I would of hit him up with $550, and see what the reaction was. If you don't ask you'll never know. Retail is pretty fierce nowadays, everyone fighting for the dollar$.
Enjoy your camera.

Hellooooooo to all you techies out there!
Just yesterday I went for a trip round town to get myself a video camera
so I could go and post videos up on youtube and what not. So I stopped
by a JB-HIFI store in the city and managed to score a CANON HFR28 Video Cam for $569 including a case logic camera bag worth $37 AUD
pretty descent small sized compact camera has full HD 20x optical zoom with a 3 inch screen. 32 gb of internal memory 2 SD card slots, HD CMOS sensor and intel auto and face detection technology.
now they were selling it at $596 RRP couldn't bargain it down any further. sales person said he'd throw in warranty with it and with manufacturers warranty I'm pretty well covered.
So guys do you think I got a good deal? or do you think next time I should bargain it down more!? I checked not to long ago aswell they were going for $677 RRP which was interesting. anyone wanna see what the actual camera looks like can

Rule 1. Always do negotiations by yourself.
The camera comes with at least a 12 months warranty by law, extending it is something I find misleading.
If they offer an extended warranty at a cost to you of say 2 or 3 years, I believe that should apply AFTER the obligatory 12 month Manufactures Warranty expires !!
Other than shopping around both On Line and at other Retailers, there is no easy way of determining if you have a Bargain or not.
I usualy find that what I bought for a bargain now is cheaper in 6 months anyway, very annoying !!
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
While you bought it up about extended warranties, i know as far as consumer affairs state, a fair and reasonable time is the length an item would last. if i buy a tv for say $3,000 well a fair and reasonable time to me is 5 years, so would I be covered?
For me unless it has a stipulated expiry date shown then all the rest is just smoke and mirrors.
