Over the time I have been posting the Aurora Irdeto1 database with the PMK included I have received several PM's from people asking for the PMK for "their" card to be removed, so for those who don't have a good grasp of Irdeto1 and how it works, and see a PMK against their particular details here is an explanation which I hope will help to ease your concerns.

There are currently 41297 sets of details in Aurora's Irdeto1 EMK roll, they are divided up over 189 different provider groups, that means there are 189 different PMK's that can be on the 41297 sets of details.

Each card has a unique 6 Byte Hex Serial Number (HSN) and a unique 20 Byte Hex Master Key (HMK) programmed on them (These numbers are in Hexadecimal not decimal) which never change.

When the card is activated by Optus it will be assigned to a particular provider group, so if you look at your particular card's details, when you see a provider ID of say 00C91A (doesn't exist its just an example) the first 4 bytes, in this case 00C9 is the provider group the last 2 bytes mean its the 27th card in that group, 1A Hexadecimal = 26 in Decimal but because the first card in that group will have a provider ID of 00C900 then 00C91A will be the 27th.

So the maximum number of cards in any provider group can be 256 (00C900 through to 00C9FF) and they all will have the same PMK.

In the database I supply when there is a roll you will find that all sets of details will have a different Encrypted Master Key (EMK), this EMK combined with the detail's particular HMK when calculated will give you the card's (and the group's) PMK, so where you see a particular PMK against your HSN then I am monotoring a set of details from that Provider group, that same PMK will be against ALL details in that group and not just one set of details, so there is no way of knowing which details in that Provider group I am monotoring.

So hopefully those who have PM'ed me will now understand that their particular set of details are as safe as the other 41296 details in the data stream.
    Cheers
    Ted (Al)

Sorry, where I have written Byte it should be digit, the HSN will be 3 Bytes (6 hexadecimal digits), the HMK will be 10 Bytes (20 hexadecimal digits) and Provider ID will be 3 Bytes (6 Hexadecimal digits) with the first 2 Bytes (4 hexadecimal digits) being the Provider group.
    Cheers
