Which one is just the unlocked map ie GmapSupp.img ?
I assume the unlocked image download?

Can you explain what all the others are?
    I use XT.

Having dramas downloading the unlocked image and Mapsource versions.

Not sure if they need to be uploaded again or if it's at my end. Both files when downloaded are under a meg each (only a couple of kb).

Anybody else with a similar problem?

Disregard - tried again with the standard Windows download (no download manager) and they work fine.

    Hi,
bit of a noob with the Garmin stuff; my mate has a nuvi 1300 he picked up from the states a few weeks back, which he obviously wants to use here in OZ. Which files do I need to get?

if there a post that spells it out just point me to it, did a bit of searching but nothing was jumping out.

    thanks in advance

Just download the Unlocked image, unpack the folder , inside the folder should be a file named gmapprom.img transfer that to the NUVI .system folder, replacing the existing gmapprom.img

Before transfer/replacement make a backup copy of all files & folders from the NUVI to somewhere safe, your hard drive or a USB stick.

    Detailed Instructions for most Nuvi's

What you need to do to replace City Nav with a newer unlocked map version in a Nuvi 1490T, 1390T or similar, is first turn off Garmin Agent if you have it installed on your PC, then make sure in windows explorer under Tools/Folder Options/View, make sure that you have "Show Hidden Files & Folders" checked as well as removing the tick from beside " Hide protected operating system files" a couple of lines below. Then apply.

    Now your ready to start.

Now after connecting Nuvi with USB cable you will be able to see on your Nuvi a folder called System.
1: make a backup copy of this folder & any others you feel important & save to your PC for justin.
2: Open the System folder on your Nuvi
3: Replace old gmapprom.img with new gmapprom.img (say yes to file overwright/replace - you've saved a copy for justin) This process may take a while to complete.
4: Open JCV Folder. Delete old JCV file - (you've saved a copy for justin) assuming you have a new one for this map set? If you cant find JCV folder your model nuvi does not support Junction view. If not skip steps 4 & 5.
5: Put new JCV file in JCV folder.
6: Now close windows explorer & eject USB drive (your Nuvi)
    7: Remove USB cable
8: Let your Nuvi turn off or reboot.

Job done, your new map will load when you turn it back on.

You can also as an alternative, create a folder in the root of the Garmin Nuvi called Map then rename the new gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img & put it in the Map folder. When you turn on the Nuvi you will need to go to tools/settings/map/info & turn on or off the map you need. New maps usually default to on.

Alternative 2: put the renamed file gmapsupp.img on a MicroSd card in a folder named Garmin then insert in Nuvi, if it has a card slot, the 1300 does, select or deselect the map in tools/settings/map/info.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers, Tiny

Hi. Thank you for the map info.
I have installed the 2012.30 maps on my Garmin 1490t and everything is fine. But I am confused about the JVC file. Can you tell me which one is compatiable with the 2012.30 and Garmin 1490t?
    Thanks
