. They should be able to tell you?

Statistically, if you wait long enough, everything will happen!
I did not actually plan on ringing either company.
Thought some one may have local knowledge
Mooroolbark 3138 is Foxtel and most, if not all is cable.
Answers my Question MTV thanks
This may be a dumb question but if you live in a Foxtel cable area can you request satellite instead?
It's not a dumb question, but it's been asked several times previously.
You can request satellite, but they'll usually knock you back.
Generally speaking, the only way Foxtel will provide a satellite installation in a cabled area is if there are situations where it is not practical for Foxtel to install cable from the street.
I signed up with foxtel going back 3 months ago I am in a Telstra cable area in Melbourne { there is a Cable running outside my place}.
The rep said I would be able to have a sat dish installed, I received a call from Foxtel stating that they would not install a dish at my place as they have some type of agreement with Telstra and refused the Satellite install request
I then cancelled the contract with Foxtel as there is a 10 day cooling of period.
I would never have anything to do with Telstra.

Foxtel is half owned by Telstra, so even if you have Foxtel satellite, there is still an association with Telstra.
The odd thing is, Telstra still handle connections and billing for Foxtel satellite areas, for customers who choose to connect to Foxtel via Telstra.
I agree with you though. I wouldn't want to have to deal with Telstra either.
As Telstra is a Major partner with both Foxtel and Austar, its hard not to 'deal' with Telstra.
If it wasnt for Telstra buying in some years ago, I really believe the PayTV system would have founded in a sea of Red Ink and blown away.
Even our new Regional VAST service would be carried by Telstra somewhere along the line.
I really think Foxtels refusal is more a case of that they spent bloody zillions putting that cable in and to do a dish install defeats the idea.
People say they wont deal with or use Telstra but most copper lines are Telstra and up untill very recently most Mobile phone carriers 'Roam' onto Telstra outside their 'Home' areas.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
