Hey Covert, I know you posted ages ago, but do the USB ports on the 360 powerdown when the console is in Standby?..So the usb fans only run when the 360 is actually running? I'm looking at getting a cooling fan and DX have a few different types...Do you actually have this one and is it good? Cheers.

The rear port does not power down when console turned off

It doesn't matter what cooler you use, if you console is going to get rrod it will no matter what.

I have used a madkatz twin fan cooler stand on my console from day 1. plus have pedistal fan going all the time and my console died. It was never left on, never played for more than 2 hours at a time, heaps of space arround it etc.

how do you tell what mb a console has got?

I have got an arcade pack that was made 10/20/08 and a premium pack that was made 07/06 but it was repaired/replaced last week so it should have new mb and dvdrom.

shit mine runs 8 - 12 hrs at time .. watching movies ..playing games ...so that why I got extra cooling ... and its still kicking along !

i was unsure about the fan idea.. i just added a couple of higher rubber feet on the bottom of the xbox to give it abit more clearance so it can draw in the cooler air more easily from the bottom.
