Default Are PS3 Blu-Ray drives interchangeble?

Are they matched/keyed to mobo(like 360 DVD drive) or can you swap them around between PS3 drives?

Just incase anyone is interested, the drives are region coded & cannot be swapped unless its from the same region......have swapped NTSC J to NTSC U & PAL....no go.

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Oz, the lasers are interchangeable just not the drives,,ie if u have a NTSC U drive & put it in a PAL PS3, it wont work

I've just replace the laser, but somehow it took me many attempts to align the top plastic cover of the drive before it actually work.
    Is there an easier way?
