Default 10 blinks Red Power LED TH-P65ST20A

Well, tonight our Panasonic TH-P65ST20A went "POP"!
A nice 'bang', electrical 'crack', happened...

Seems to have the Red LED Power light blinking 10 times. Which appears to indicate a Video Board has gone.

It's under warranty, not asking for any fixes etc.
Just making a post as to how Hardly Normal/Panasonic will handle the repair from now on, and post accordingly...

Assuming the only time i can ring is Monday (plus with my work hours), in the late afternoon.

They will put you onto a Pano agent in your local area

If you tell them the set is for a sick oldie not long left for this place they might push you through a bit faster

And make sure you ask the questions about the wrrty period on the repair as you can't trust no one now a days LOL

I am an agent for Panasonic & they normally email the job straight to the nearest agent to you.

    Cheers, Guys,

Hey B4L, I got a 3 year (2 Year extended), with the set bought about 5 months ago.
Are you saying that the replacement board 'might' only come with a 30day or 90day warranty?

    CHRISS:

As it's a two man lift job, will 'they' do the repair in our actual house if it's just a board swap over, or they will take it away?

Are you aware of any version of boards that have been altered (as in are Panasonic aware of this issue etc), and can i ask for a version 2 etc.

    Cheers.
Got to find the reciept now and serial #

No I was talking more like when your TV goes bang, say in the last month of your wrrty and you need to get it fixed it's nice to know where you stand, but you got three years no problemo, just hope they don't keep your set at the work shop to long , hence why the sad story might move it along a bit

    Good Luck

Does the '10 blinks of the Red LED' actualy indicate a specific problem or simply 'We start at the mains connection and follow the scorch marks back'?
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

From a bit of GIYF, it's either the (a), Video Board or the Power Supply Board.

Seemed to come (looking at the set), from the top right hand side. I was actually standing in front of the set when it happened.

Such a nice big 'crack!' it was as well. I'm tempted like crazy to whip the back off and check it out

    For obvious reasons i can't..

When an abnormality has occurred the unit, the protection circuit operates and reset to the stand by mode. At this time, the
defective block can be identified by the number of blinks of the Power LED on the front panel of the unit.
10 BLINKS sub5vSOS Main 3.3vSOS Dtv 9v SOS or Tuner Power sos, All on A Board (main pcb) So if thay have in stock will try to fix there (well i would) if no stock would order power and A board b4 going out,

    Update:
The TV has been repaired and is due back today.

I asked what board they replaced and they said the 'C' Board.

CHRISS, any chance you can tell me what the 'C' board does?

And - if by anyway - it involves the SD card or USB inputs...

    Cheers.

B4L - WHATCHA TALKN BOUT WILLIS? HUH?

Hey Chriss thanks for that inot.

Yeah, i was 'playing around' trying to get the Pana to play movies via USB.

Had plugged the stick in a few times (Powering off) to remove and (powering on), after the stick was inserted. After about 10 times, the Pana went BANG!!!!

Nothing in manual or the WWW about if the port is hot swappable, i didn't think so (if it didn't say so!), so i was powering off and back on with each insert.
The 10 times would have been in about a 40minute period. Back to the PC, rewrite/compile the sample vid and then back to the Pana to test.
    It's Pana's version of AVCHD..

Tv's just arrived. Yet to plug her all back up
