    Default ps2 mod chip question

I have a chipped ps2 here that's acting a little strange. If I power on the system by its power switch at the front, or reset it, I always get the red "please insert ps/ps2 disc" error screen. However if I turn it off at the back (the rocker power switch) and back on, if always boots up games just fine. Is this due to something with the chip, or a really weak laser needing enough power upon boot-up?

what model PS2 and what modchip is installed - some of the older modchip designs require user intervention to boot a particular disc i.e. hold in reset button til clouds appear on screen etc etc...

as its an older model phat PS2 (rocker power switch on back) i'll take a punt and guess its modchip is a Scenix SX28 based one like an apple 75k or a Duo2.

    Operation Instructions

    PS2 Games

    - Insert PS2 game in tray, the press EJECT button to close tray.
    - The disc will then take 2-5 seconds to be recognized and then boot.

To boot another game when already playing a game.

    - The current game would then pause and the tray would come out.

    PSX games

I just tried out the instructions for my main system, I had no idea that it could boot PSX discs. Thanks!
