Replacing MYSTAR
So here i am, thinking mystar is a heap of siht. Can anyone tell me how i can get a decent decoder/ pvr to use as an austar decoder for me. I have a legit account and all, even an atlas as a second set but i am over the mystar box glitches and refusal to let me record even a kids show onto my dvd recorder.
Someone help with a decent setup please.

legit card = only legit unit now their card will not work in third party box's now
I had a nice mediastar pvr with a paid sub card that worked nicely until about 3 weeks ago when austar F***ing idiot C**** changed the encryption.
Tomorrow I have selecttv! and NO austar.
half the price, half the channels, mediastar will work again.

Hehehehhe....
The first 10,000 mystar boxes came out with no "protection" built into them.
These were installed from November till the end of January.
My 2x mystar boxes will happily record to DVD straight thru composite cables. Easy peasy.
Buy yourself a video enhancer.
You can do the same thing by running the picture through a TV with RF in and AV out.
It may be possible that a VCR could do the same job, but I used to use the SHARP tvs to *cough* back up video tapes when I worked in a shop that sold movies, blank tapes and TV's.
I got my video enhancer from Oatley Electronics in about 2001 for $20. They were some surplus deal they had at the time, and came with an EFTPOS modem to use as a "black box" case. It fit very nicely inside the eftpos modem case and I still have it.
I believe that these boxes defeated macrovisi*n as well as cleaning up the signal.
