Thumbs up Regional WA Digital Rollout

DTV Forum has gone downhill in the past year, so I'll be posting updates to the digital rollout here (actually forgot a terrestrial section existed on Austech!)

This is the latest information from the horses mouth....

Kalgoorlie, Karratha and Margaret River will have all 9 commercial services started by the end of October. Albany will have them by mid December.

    Thanks for the updates Smacca.

After all the previous delays, will be good to see some action soon.

Well, 10 years waiting makes you think you are, lol! Yep, at least now all 16 are done at once.

Current delays more like. September for Kalgoorlie was concrete, but nothing happened then. Not sure why it was delayed but October is the new concrete, lol

Bunbury was the first high-powered installation. I believe Kalgoorlie, etc, is using different, more compact equipment for low-powered sites. I'll try and find out some more information and hopefully some piccies like last time.

Meanwhile, anyone in those three areas should start regular scans as there is no proper date, just "end of October", so I imagine one or two will begin in the next week!

    Good ol' AnalH, lol!

Apparently the equipment for the Geraldton transmitter has arrived. No word on installation date though.

Take all starting/completion dates with a grain of salt untill you see the actual signal being transmitted.
As I posted elsewhere, the Eyre Peninsular although Digital since December 15th LAST YEAR , are still waiting for the full suite of channels that are now forecast to commence in Mid November, 11 months late.

Hmm, it's either tomorrow or Monday. Bunbury launched on a Thursday, so here's hoping!

They seem to be at it again- the local paper stated yesterday(thursday) that Kalgoorlies new digital stations would be switched on at 6am today (Friday) and any time after that you could do a retune and receive all these " you beaut" digital channels.

Well for the record its nearly 5pm(11 hours after the press stated digital would be here ) and despite several retunes still Kalgoorlie remains the same as it has been for the past year.

Yeah, Kalgoorlie and Karratha are having some issues. The existing single transmitter has been going offline throughout the day. I've been told Kalgoorlie in particular might not launch until tomorrow, but as soon as the installation is done, they'll flick the switch.

One big problem with all forecasts is who is making them?
Is it the installer ie Technical staff who actualy build the thing or a clerk sitting in an office who genuinely believes that with every penstroke made, the World turns or the Undercutting contractor who is sweating on a finish on Time bonus for the job?
Of course I havent included any one with Political ambitions in any of the three tiers of Government or even the lowly Journo whose fed up with reviewing the local Pig Breeders and Flower arrangers annual offerings.

Kalgoorlie is now partially upgraded. The joint-venture frequency holding GWN7, WIN and Ten West is still active, which means One HD and Eleven are yet to launch. They probably don't want to interrupt today's live events. So for now, there's currently 2 GWN7's, 2 WIN's, GO!, Gem, 7TWO, 7mate and Ten West.

16 Digital Services (GWN7, 7TWO, 7mate, WIN, GO!, Gem, Ten West, Eleven, One, All ABC, All SBS)
    • Bunbury
    • Karratha
    • Margaret River
    • Rural WA (VAST)

14 Digital Services (temporary) (GWN7, 7TWO, 7mate, WIN, GO!, Gem, Ten West, All ABC, All SBS)
    • Kalgoorlie

10 Digital Services (GWN7, WIN, Ten West, All ABC, All SBS)
    • Mawson/Central Ag.
    • Mingenew

Exactly. You've got the engineers working for the networks, then the government's Digital Ready team, then the public relations minions within the networks, all scrambling to provide accurate start dates. I think in this case, there were two dates flying around - end of October and 28th October.

Probably the latter, but it's the engineers who make the final call. If something goes wrong, the pen pusher has no control.

    Default one pixialtion

I am in Kalgoorlie and have great reception for all new digital channels EXCEPT one-

On my 59" Samsung channel 50 or ONE is terribly pixilated and is the only channel like this- makes it impossible to watch.

However on my Samsung 27" lcd this same channel (50) is perfect with no sign of pixilation whatever.

Any ideas?? Have tried several rescans and manual tuning to no avail.

Have you tried a full factory default reset before re-scanning?

Can you try the TV's on different antenna outlet? (a bit hard to move the 59" but the 27" should be OK).

Have you tried swapping the flyleads around?

Difficult to determine without accurate signal measurements.

Channel 50 (one) has now disappeared completly following rescans on both TV,s so would that mean they are still working on the new installation and its not my equipment?
