nice find. I have a 'G' mark $1 coin that I produced myself at the War Memorial. (G was/is a special city mark for Gallipoli) and it's a nice feeling having something that is part of only a limited edition.

Perth Mint made a 1-tonne gold coin to show off for the Queen last night.

"t's not everyday that you see a gold coin weighing one tonne and made from $53 million of gold.

The Perth Mint has been working for about 18 months on designing and creating the massive 1,012kg Australian Kangaroo coin, which was revealed at the Premier's State dinner last night."

    Royal Mint Canberra

    2012 Diamond Jubilee

Queen Elizabeth II, perhaps Australia's favourite royal personage, due in part to being the first reigning monarch to visit Australia in 1954, her endurance over the past 60 years and her grace in facing outbreaks of war, assassinations and who could forget annus horribilis.

The Queen's ascension to the crown was celebrated with coins by the Royal Australian Mint for her Silver Jubilee in 1977, Golden Jubilee in 2003 and now after reigning for 60 years we mark her Diamond Jubilee.

This anniversary will be celebrated throughout the Commonwealth and there are already numerous custom made issues appearing from a range of private mints from all over the world. Start your collection with the authentic and official Australian coins made by a world class Royal Mint.

The St Edward's Crown was used in The Queen's coronation ceremony in 1953 which is why it takes centre stage in these magnificent designs for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee. The detail in this most historic and bejewelled crown is seen best on the fine silver proof version. The silver also gleams in the custom designed presentation case flocked with a royal purple inlay and complemented by a metal badge insert marking it with the series logo of the Royal Australian Mint Royal Collection range.

Shores under Siege - Bombing of Australia 1942

At the height of World War II, between February 1942 and November 1943, the Australian mainland, domestic airspace, offshore islands and coastal shipping were targeted over 100 times by Japanese forces.

As we approach the seventieth anniversary of these attacks, the Royal Australian Mint is releasing a three coin uncirculated set depicting images of these attacks and the civilian response. Remembering these events will remind the nation of our ability to rally together in times of need, and the value of peace.
