I have a satellite dish set up and aligned. Will it work to borrow a foxtel box off my mum who has foxtel multi room, and just plugging it into the satellite? I don't know much about this stuff so please help. And also, after I use it on the satellite, will I be able to plug it back into normal foxtel and will it work or does using it on satellite ruin or change any settings??

If it's a Foxtel satellite decoder (not cable) and you have the same local oscillator frequency on your dish LNB, (10700) then it should work just plugging it in.
If it's Foxtel iQ/iQ2/iQHD you will need a dual LNB with two cables connected.
You will be able to just connect it back up at your mum's place afterwards and it will work.
As mentioned, you cannot use a cable Foxtel box on satellite and vice versa.

I thought the same thing.
The OP's reference to 'satellite' and 'normal' Foxtel was what made me wonder.
