Don't think so, isn't that the idea of shared folders to allow people to see, and therefore by default copy stuff. You can stop them from changing and deleting though.
does anyone know if its possible to disable other people in your network from copying stuff from your shared folder

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
Maybe the original poster needs to clarify what they're trying to achieve.
If they want to prevent access to files then, yes, it is possible within xp.
If he wants to provide access to them but prevent those same people from copying them, then, no, whatever you use, to my knowledge, won't provide that.

In XP there is an option to turn off the 'Use simple file sharing (Recommended)' option. This option can be found in Windows Explorer under [Tools] [Folder options...] [View] in the 'Advanced Settings:' list box (Right down the bottom). Turning off this option allows you to customise your permissions.
