    Cool RG6 question

    For those who have used RG6 (I never have) how is it terminated on a BNC. The centre conductor is obviously too big for the standard pin & the sheathing is too big for the crimp collar. Is there a special BNC for it ?

    Default

    RG6 --> F-Type Connector --> F-Type to BNC adapter.

    Or go straight to compression connectors, which in my opinion are far more superior to the crimp style.

    I use BNC connectors which fit directly on RG6 Quadshield.

    You can get crimp and compression types.

    The less adaptors used, the better.

    No BNCs I've ever seen will take the centre conducor. As far as I know you can only get 0.7mm or 0.9mm centre pins

    The ones I use have a captive centre pin.

    I also use RG11/RG213 BNC connectors... same deal... captive reducing centre pin.

    There is a difference in size of the centre conducters as you've pointed out between RG6x/U & RG6x/U Quad. RG6 Quad has a copper coated steal centre conductor (which is thicker) where as RG6x/U has a solid copper centre conductor.

    Correct... and there are BNC crimp/compression connectors to fit both.
