    Default Oztopo v3 contours+roads

    Got this from another forum:

    OZTOPO V3

    293.9 MB

    666.82 MB

    I merged them with gmaptool, then unlocked with fast IMG unlocker.
    Worked in the gps and in Basecamp.

    Wink

    Thanks for sharing, had trouble getting the .rar files to unpack, so renamed them .zip & all good.
    Split with Gmaptool & installed for MapSource 6.15.6, had a look around wow!
    They have done some work on coloring it up with the TYP file, bright as.

    BTW for those that want to know,
    for the roads layer
    FID= 450
    PID= 1
    For the contour layer
    FID= 450
    PID= 2

    The install also works with latest BaseCamp, will have to try with latest MapSource.

    No need to run Unlocker the files are already unlocked.

    Should work on all if not most, if you can fit it in memory or on card, see here for more detail

    BTW OzTopo is more suited to handhelds & although good for 4WD enthusiasts, it is not auto Routing & therefore will display on a car navigator but will only direct you to your destination in a straight line.
    It also comes in 2 layers which can be combined or left separate depending on your Garmin model.
    The first & smallest link is to the road layer, second link is contour layer.

    Hope that helps.

    Do you have cGPSMapper installed & correct path selected in GMaptool?
    Have you used these 2 programs before successfully to split maps?

    Thanks again that's really good with the 2 layers together & the find feature still intact.

    Hi atx9211,

    Thanks for the Mapsource/Basecamp version of OZtopo v3, it great having the 2 layers visible at the same time.

    The only problem I am having is trying to create a gmappsupp.img through either Mapsource or Basecamp. It says the map set is larger than 4GB even if I choose one tile let alone the whole tile set of Australia. Is there some kind of work around this or should I just use the two img files in the first post and merge them with gmaptool?

    Yes, you will need to join them with Gmaptool unless your GPS supports multiple .img files, most late models do.

    I have done both with excellent results.

    The Mapsource version is for viewing only & is not intended by the producer to be cut up &/or joined, be thankful for Gmaptool

    Hi Tiny,

    Thanks for the info, it's greatly appreciated.

    I've joined both img files using Gmaptool and also changed the TYP file using "Change TYP File.exe". It's working perfectly and also looking great with the updated TYP file. I'm extremely thankful for Gmaptool and other third-party applications.

    OzTopo is way better than shonky, I use it on my Etrex, however for your 1390T Garmin Topo3 would be a great choice as it auto-routs just like city navigator, unfortunately you can't separate or turn off the contours.

    Set windows to show file extensions if you can't already see them, then rename the downloaded files to .zip instead of .rar.
    Windows should now be able to unzip them.
    I find this happens sometimes with RAR files, don't know why, just know that renaming them works.
    Cheers, Tiny

    No, OzTopo does not auto rout at all. I do however prefer it over Garmin Topo for bush walking as it is easier to read on a small screen.

    For auto routing you need for City detail & very average rural detail.

    Or Garmin Topo3 for full detail city & rural off-road 4wd tracks.This auto routs as well.
    Downside is contour layer is embedded & cannot be switched off.
    You can get the locked version here & read about its abilities.
    .
    Go to post #115 on page 12 for the unlocked version & MapSource version.
    You may need to join forum if you can't see the links.
    Hope that helps.
    Edit: Have made this maps links available for Austech members here
