Do you have any security enabled on your PCs to prevent outside access, or response to ping requests. That's where I'd be looking.
Dear all,
I am new to this forum. I do have a problem with home network if anyone here can help please? Thanks heaps...
question is i had a dlink 502t-AT adsl modem and a dlink 624 wireless router. Connected 502T ethernet port to 624 lan port. (I did some search on internet and everyone advise this connection) 502T work as DHCP server.
IP address config:
502T: 192.168.0.1
624wireless router: 192.168.0.2
PC A: 192.168.0.3 static ip
PC B: 192.168.0.4 static ip
NOKIA N95: 192.168.0.5
All three devices can browse internet and use SIP client with no problem.
But PC A and B cannot see each other and no file sharing.(with same subnet 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.0.1 and on same workgroup).
example: PC A cannot ping PC B same as PC B cannot ping PC A.
While PC A and B both can ping N95, 502T and 624 with no problem.
also I did port forward to PC A and PC B for VNC service, both not working.
Please help.....I tried for a long time still can't make it works.
Thanks again.

Setup each PC on a dynamic setting and let the router assign ip's and see if that work also allow sharing on all PC's

Thanks everyone....
I am thinking...even I can't browse network...for some reason...
but why VNC also not working.....??
I am sure i follow the step from DLINK to setup the port forwarding...
Thanks heaps.......
try a default gateway of 192.168.0.2 on the PCs assuming they are all connected to the wireless router's lan ports.
I have a similar setup with similar hardware except my ADSL router is 10.1.1.1 and my wireless is 192.168.0.1
The 502 ADSL is 10.1.1.1 and my 524 is connected to one of the 502 lan ports. All my wired and wireless PCs are connected to the 524 ports with DHCP enabled and are in the 192.168.0.x range with 192.168.0.1 gateway.
Is it only your N95 which is using wireless or one pc as well?
If a pc is using wireless, plug it into the modem/router and see if it shares.
Lan port to lan port is correct. I had the same issues, took me quite a while to find this out.
I have mine connected up differently, or maybe we have terminology differences, I have my wireless router WAN port connected to the LAN port of the ADSL modem. I can connect between all PCs and can connect to both routers from any PC to configure them.

I could not share using the wan connection on the wireless router.
Ethernet cable must run from Lan on modem to Lan on some wireless routers, after I changed ports all was well.
From memory makes the wireless router act as a passive device, allowing wireless, sharing and internet access.
This info is on their website somewhere buried.
Are you using D-Link rob816? I have zero network problems, I share across PCs, different work groups and all. Can also vnc between all PCs. I port forward one port for torrents in both the modem and the router, but don't use torrents much any more now.
If you are using a USB modem then this does not work.
From the dlink website for the DI-624 (and for my DI-524) wireless router on how to connect to the internet using a D-Link ADSL modem
or from the installation guide for the DI-624 PDFD-Link Print
All current D-Link ADSL modems nowadays have PPPoE capabilities. That means that the modem carries out the authentication with your ISP. Hence there is no need to enable PPPoE on your router when using such modem. You need to set your router with the 'Dynamic IP (DHCP)' option. The router is set to this option by default.
Step 1. Connect the modem to the WAN port of your router.
If any computers have a USB cable going to your modem disconnect the USB connection and restart your modem.
Step 2. Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports of the router. Log into the router using Internet Explorer via . Enter username and password to log into the router (the default username is 'admin' and password is blank (nothing)).
Step 3. Click on WAN on the left side of the screen. Select the 'Dynamic IP (DHCP)' option. Click Apply.
As for file sharing the router has nothing to do, it acts as a simple hub.Connecting The DI-624 Wireless
Router To Your Network
A. First, connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of
the DI-624 and then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall
outlet or power strip. The Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper
operation.
B. Insert one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the back panel
of the DI-624 and the other end to the Ethernet port located on your
Cable or DSL modem. The WAN LED light will illuminate to indicate
proper connection.
C. Insert an Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the back panel of the DI-624
and an available Ethernet port on the network adapter in the computer
you will use to configure the DI-624. The LED light for LAN Port 1 will
illuminate to indicate proper connection. (Note: The WAN Port and LAN
Ports on the DI-624 are Auto-MDI/MDIX. Meaning you can use a
straight-through or crossover-cable to the WAN Port and LAN Ports.
D. Computers equipped with 802.11b wireless adapters will be able to
connect to the DI-624. The DWL-G650 AirExtreme Wireless Cardbus
Adapter and the DWL-G520 AirExtreme Wireless PCI Adapter will be
able to connect out of the box with the router using their default
wireless settings.
File Sharing - Windows XP Print
Please visit for information on sharing files and folders in Windows XP.
If you are using a router: You do not need to set up anything on the router in regards to file/printer sharing on local network. Router is only getting involved when you are accessing the Internet. For local traffic (between the two computers) you are not using the router, you are using it just like a hub (physical connection between the computers).
You need to modify some settings in Windows in order to enable file/printer sharing and make computers to "see" each other on local network.
There are many guides on the Internet which will help you to troubleshoot Windows networking setup, here are some of them:
I think dads wireless job is a 614+. all would work ok except printer and file sharing. I tried everything for a couple of months and then I spent an afternoon at it. Found on the dlink site to run lan to lan port and the stupid thing worked straight away after rebooting the wireless and then rebooting modem.
maybe the 502 and 604 need to be on different subnets. ie
502T: 192.168.0.1
624wireless router: 192.168.1.2
not knowing the router but do they both have dhcp going and conflicting?
just a thought
Just make sure Windows Firewall is fully off in the control panel on both PCs.
And give that a go.
When i set my first Wireless Router and Adsl modem up, there where 2 ways
First put the Modem into bridge mode
Then plug Modem Lan into W/Router Wan
Then input all your settings into W/Router that use to be in the Modem,
Username
Password
PPPoE or PPPoA
VPI 8
VCI 35
As now the W/Router assigns Dhcp, ip address, and does the authentification, not the modem anymore
2nd way turn Dhcp off on the W/Router, and plug the Modem into anyone of the Lan ports on the W/Router
I can browse, share files both ways
Thanks everyone.
I tried again today, reset both ADSL modem and ROUTER.
New setting:
ADSL modem : 10.1.1.1
dial up and DHCP server.
ROUTER : 192.168.0.1
(IP from ADSL 10.1.1.2 GW 10.1.1.1 by connecting ADSL ethernet port to ROUTER WAN port)
WIRELESS and DHCP
port forward 1980 to 192.168.0.2
PC A : 192.168.0.2
GW: 192.168.0.1
N95 : 192.168.0.3
GW: 192.168.0.1
problem:
Both PC and N95 can browse internet.
But VNC to PC A is not working and N95 cannot connect SIP client.(VOIP PHONE)
Are there any port forward missing to setup or firewall setting??
Can you guys please give my some hints??
Many thanks,
TRF
SIP signaling: Ports 5060 to 5070
RTP audio: Ports 8766 to 35000
VNC port is 5900... there may be more depending on the version,
don't forget if you need to port forward from the internet you need to port forward in the adsl modem to 10.1.1.2 and then in the wireless router to the PC you want to forward to.
