Default The Total Lunar Eclipse on December 10, 2011

The Total Lunar Eclipse on December 10, 2011 will be visible in its entirety from all of Australia and New Zealand, and Asia. For North Americans, the eclipse is in progress as the Moon sets, while observers in Europe and Africa will miss the early stages of the eclipse as they will be in progress as the Moon rises. South America misses this eclipse entirely.

For Australians and New Zealanders this will be a well-placed eclipse, with the entire eclipse visible starting around midnight AEDST, but will change depending on your timezone. Check the table further below for timings in a city near you.

This eclipse is quite a short one, with totality lasting 51 minutes.

The below map shows visually where the eclipse can be seen from around the world (large version here). Read on below for what it means to you, more information, local timings, and hints and tips for viewing and photographing the eclipse.

Yowies DownUnder dancing in the white of the Full Moon Light, Howling with the Bunyips when the Moon Light turn RED.
Rambling in the Paddocks by the trunks of the Ghost Gums and the Coolibah Trees,
Dont venture too far or away from your home as you hear the leaves rustle in tune with the breeze.
Beware of the Billabongs, Mud Flats and the Swamps, your far better being hidden safely under your Bed !!!

good because there is thick cloud cover in my part of the world.
I can barely make out a reddish glow in the clouds.
