Default New UltraPlus X-9200HD is awesome but picture freezes occasionally.

    Hi all,

I recently purchased one of these awesome boxes from the legend that is LeroyPatrol and think it's an amazing device. It's great being able to have all the terrestrial channels and the sat channels in one box and be able to record them onto a hard drive. Also, the ability to look at stuff online including youtube etc is fantastic.
Provider boxes can only wish to be this useful.

Anyway, I finally managed to search and store all the sat channels from C1 on to the box (it helps when you plug it into the correct connection on the back.) and now I have all the Pox and Jetstar channels coming up as well as the Aur ones and the zillions of vast. (Impressive just how vg many channels are on that service) Aur works fine and has no problems.. BUT.. my Jetstar channels will only play for a few seconds or so before they freeze. Then the 'scrambled service' pops up on screen and then eventually the picture will come back but again, only for a few seconds (sometimes can be a minute) and then it starts freezing again and goes to scrambled or comes back... (you get the idea)

The card I have is a Red 5.3.. (my other alternative is a Red 5.4 )
Do others with this box have similar problems with the picture freezing? and how are you rectifying it? Is there actually solution to this one?
Oh yeah. I also have the latest firmware etc in it apparently.

I thought it would be better to post this in the forum rather than bug Leroy as others can also benefit from the answers if this (or similar) happens to them.

Sorry for the long winded post. I hope someone knows what can be done. I really love this box, but the constant freezing is going to get very tiresome. I don't want to have to go back to the crappy jetstar box.

    Huge thanks in advance.
    mrtw.

PS. Could this be something to do with the MCAS? Would I have to add something to give it more stability? Just wondering.

Ok. It's now starting to do it on the AUR channels as well.

I might switch it off and put the old jetstar box back up until I can work something out about the constant freezing and scrambled service messages...

I've been busy searching through the topics on this forum, but haven't seen anything that might help as not many people seem to have this model box yet.

So I'll wait and see what happens in the next few days or so.

Odd that Aurora is doing it as well. I've just emailed a new plugin for you to test.

Hi there, wondering if you found a fix for this by any chance? I have the same issue.

Haven't found a fix yet. LP is helping me to get it sorted and I'll post up the results once I have it all working again. I'm just running the FTA tuner in it for the time being.

It is odd that it does it for Aur as well though. Isn't technology fun.

Oh yeah. Al Jazeera or whatever it is comes up fine, as does the other FTA stuff like Expo and NITV.

Quality and signal is very good. I don't have a huge TV so am restricted on the 1080p thing. But where I am, I get fairly good signal strength. It certainly finds a lot more services than I thought were out there (like vast etc). Just a shame they're encrypted.

This there is already a thread about possible issues with the UltraPlus X-9200HD Firmware/plug-ins, I thought I'd add some comments even though they aren't really related to your issues since a updated firmware & MCAS Plug-in might solve all these issues. I'm using the X-9200HD with our LBF subscription that users Seca Mediaguard 2 encryption, and as such requires an Mediaguard 2 Smart Card. The other day I got home and my Wife said that she couldn't access any of French Channels on our LBF package besides the FTA such as France24. I had to power off the unit and power it on again for it to descramble the Seca Mediaguard 2 encryption. I thought it was just a one off issue, but it has happen a few more times. I thought nothing of it.

Our Simba HD arrived early last, so I inserted the Viaccess Smart Card into the X-9200HD so we could also watch France2, France 3 etc. The X-9200HD didn't seems to want to play ball. Eventually it accepted the Viaccess card and we could watch those other channels. Anyway we had storms here later that week so I power off the UltraPlus during the storms. It was off overnight because the storms kept coming. When I powered the Ultraplus on the next morning it had a lot of trouble initialising both Smart Cards. The Viaccess Smart Card seem to work O.K. in the end after several reboots but not the Mediaguard 2 Smart Card. It kept disconnecting the card and restarting it. In the end I powered off the box and swapped the two Smart Cards around. Put the Viaccess card in slot 1 (top) and Mediaguard 2 card in slot 2 (bottom). Turned the box on and it eventually worked. Thought it a bit strange so I sent Leroy a PM to ask hiom about it. He said he would see if there is a newer version on the MCAS Plug-in and get back to me.

Anyway I got home from work yesterday and the Wife tells me she can't watch anything except France 24 and the other two unencrypted channels on IS-18. Again I had to power off the unit and power it on again for it to descramble the Viaccess & Mediaguard 2 encryption. It didn't seem to play up like it did before so it seems to like the Viaccess card in slot 1 (top) and Mediaguard 2 card in slot 2 (bottom). Sent Leroy another PM last night (he is really busy at present so I understand the delay). He said he just got new firmware that was released to him yesterday but didn't have time to post it and to Hang 5 until he could post it. He said he would upload it with plugins to suit as soon as he could. Said they will be bleeding edge but should be good.

I know I'm properly the only person running both a Viaccess & Mediaguard 2 Smart Card in their X-9200HD, so problems/bugs are likely.

Anyway just thought I'd let you know that something is coming soon so hang in there guys.

    Cheers

    Hi mrtw,

Let us know how you go mate! The MCAS on my X-9200HD is dated 24/10/11, so it's not as new as the one madmacka posted which was dated 22/11/11. But apsattv has posted some updated software here:

Anyway I hope it helps! I'm still wating for Leroy to come back to me with an update for my MCAS issue.

    Kind Regards

    Mark

Well, I installed the new firmware and followed all the instructions on what to do before installing the new mcas plugins etc.
I even went into the mcas menu and changed the setting from T0-T14 to T14-T0.

I rebooted the box, stuck the card in, did a scan, channels appeared in the service list and when it finally all finished, the card obviously got an update and 'voila' pictures.. YAY.

But, as is my luck.. this was short lived.. after about 5 mins or so, the screen froze and the 'Scrambled Service' message came up.

I thought I was doing sooo well. I'm hoping there wasn't anything I missed. Maybe it's harder than I thought to be able to use an oz card on another box.
I can go to another channel and it will say 'Scrambled Service' for a while and eventually I'll get pictures again.. but inevitably, it disappears and goes back to being scrambled again.

Ah well. It's all fun trying to get it to work I suppose. I really wish I didn't have a 5.3 card.

Hope all is going well with your new job & place Leroy. Sounds like you've got your hands full mate.

I'm sure we'll sort it out eventually. Many thanks to Bizzibee, apsattv & Leroy for their assistance with all this fun.
