This is free and does just about everything conversion-wise, I use it all the time and it works well. Does flac and others that it doesn't actually name.

    Default Latest version?

Maybe try a re-install? Just checked mine and all fine here...
I download a lot of bootlegs that are in flac and convert them to mp3 all the time with it.

Why are you trying to convert to mp3?

It's really unnecessary and it degrades the quality of the audio.

Just go from flac to wave. They burn to CD just as easily and you don't lose any quality (assuming the flacs were created from uncompressed files).

    1) download and install the flac software driver.
    2) use the flac frontend to decompress the flac files
    3) open the flac front end.
    4) add files (1) or select files then drag and drop the flac files you want to decompress into flac frontend
    5) select output folder (2) in flac and decode (3)
    .

    6) now open up cd burner software and start new audio cd. Select the wav files you have just uncompressed. drop them into the cd layout and then burn the audio cd.

In the event of downloading flac formatted music, I just search again and download correct version.

    What Cd is it?

I've always just used WinAMP to convert between FLAC and MP3.
