    Default Bandwidth war has started

TPG recently announced a future plan of 500GB with free IPTV.

Sounds good until you read the T&C

    # $79.95 per month
    # Must be bundled with an iPrimus Value, Saver or Family home phone plan under a 24 month contract. If you cancel or transfer the telephone, iPrimus may suspend or terminate your ADSL2+ service
    # 200 GB monthly data allowance (includes both uploads and downloads). 40GB available between 9am and 3am (peak); 160GB available between 3am and 9am (off peak)
    # No excess data charge
    # Speed will be limited to dial up speed for balance of month if either peak or off peak data allowance is exceeded.

So right mate - well spotted

    # $79.95 per month - Price Ok
    # Must be bundled with an iPrimus Value, Saver or Family home phone plan under a 24 month contract. If you cancel or transfer the telephone, iPrimus may suspend or terminate your ADSL2+ service - Minimum $30 i guess, 2yr contract - that blows
    # 200 GB monthly data allowance (includes both uploads and downloads). 40GB available between 9am and 3am (peak); 160GB available between 3am and 9am (off peak) 200GB sounds great until you see how theyve split it. 50/50 peak/offpeak would be fair
    # No excess data charge - Normal
    # Speed will be limited to dial up speed for balance of month if either peak or off peak data allowance is exceeded.
The way that is worded worries me. If i exceed my peak allowance the speed will be limited for the balance of the month ?? Hopefully just during peak times you would be throttled but it is not very clear.

I dislike primus from their over limit charges in the past. At least 4yrs ago I had a $250/month 1.5 connection with them. My final bill with them (i changed ISP over it) was $2300+ for one month. I exceeded the 10GB limit by 12GB

TPG was good for a while but ive found iinet to be very good for me here in Brisbane, as long as nothing needs to be changed it has been a reliable connection for the past few years.

I think you will find they have changed the peak times to noon to midnight which is much better and free content is on the way too or thats how I read from Whirlpool.

Apart of having unlimited plan for time being.
New modem can be picked up for as much as $40 - $60.
