    Default DM500 streaming to a PC

    An old topic I know but here is a new twist.

    For those of you who use the PLi Iolite images have a look at this on the PLi Wiki

    It will follow any channel changes on your DM500 in VLC as well without having to restart VLC and so far on both the Wintel and linux boxes it works expectationaly well.

    If you tune the settings in /var/etc/zapstream.conf it works without fail on wifi and even on my P35 hand phone.

    All you have to do is open your DM box with VLC or mplayer like this;

    For those of you with C band and can see Luxe TV HD (1080i) on AS 2 you might want to give it a go. For the first time I have seen pretty good (not perfect) streaming from a DM 500 on real HDTV.

    For those with a MAC or Linix give it a go on mplayer and it works really well in HDTV from your DM500.

    jonc is right
    I have been playing with streaming from iolite as well
    what I do is
    run VLC on my PC server on same local lan as dreambox
    This server receives stream from dreambox and transcodes it to whatever size I need to suit purpose I do at that time
    I use 2 batch files and run either one on my server depending where I want to watch stream
    streamfornet.bat gives a less than 500k stream - good for little tv box in remote pc - remember to open ports on your router to get this stream
    streamforlan.bat gives about 2.5mb stream - good for wifi

    No it is not the same as VPID uses an application called streamTS not zapstream and will not follow zap changes like zapstream does and only available in the Pli software.
