    Default New PC upgrade

Hi all, just need some advice regarding building my own system, really strict budget and I know what I want to get, but a couple of questions about the m/board.

I have the option of an ASUS pk5 board with a dual core intel cpu which I have been told can be upgraded with the next gen cpu's as well or a Gbyte board 945gcmx any thoughts on either of these.

the other thing I have never fully understood is the difference between an AGP & PCI slot or graphics card which I want to add as well.

    any would be greatly appreciated

    cheers

Hi urban, mainly to play games and of course, to log into austech to keep up to date.

I got myself the p5k m/board, core duo cpu, and a gig of ddr2 ram as starters, i'll be looking at a 512mb g/card as well so any advice on price would be great, as I haven't looked at pc upgrades for a few years so I'm a bit out of the loop at the moment and I know prices have changed dramatically.

imo 512mb graphics cards are pointless unless you are running larger screens.

get a fast clocked gpu, a 8800GT is a popular choise these days or even a new g92 8800gts dependent on your budget.

let me know a rough budget on the card ill let you know the best value card you can get

no point spending xxx and not getting the best value you can.

if your not into gaming get a less spec'd card and you wont have any problems but really depends on your needs

    pm me if you want
