How do I know my alarm is failing?
Hi, I need to know if the following is a sign that my Bosch is about to fail.
Its a Solution 16, with 880-style keypads.
Anyway, my keypad starts beeping for two-second intervals with about a 1/10 second break in between. Also, random 'ICON's flash for the duration of the beeps. My keypad won't respond and just keeps "Flashdancing". I've disconnected the battery and from AC, so do I need a tech.
Also, I have been receiving Time/Date and Low Battery (2/1) Faults randomly. Even though I just replaced the battery and Time/Date.

Wonder how old the PCB is, may just need a default and re programme.
Also possible the PCB is failing as you suggested...
what happens if you disconnect the battery and leave the AC connected???
I would also check keypad wiring for rat attack or broken wire
ok, ive checked behind the keypad. no VISIBLE damage to wiring. i wont pull keypad apart to check boards. ill order new bosch keypads today. weve only got 2. ill call for a check on the pcb, coz i opened the box up and there were a couple of screws loose, and a bit of wear and tear around were the screws were.
I would not replace the codepads, take them off the wall and wire then direct to the pcb, if they still do the same thing (both) chances are the pcb is dead.
This is also a good way to check the cabling :P
Yep Keefe that would be my next suggestion I didnt realize at first there were 2 keypads do the both have the same problem
i couldnt tell if both were going, because we were in a panic. will check today/direct connect the keypads.

Ive seen this happen on Sol 16 before, the "flashdance" as you called it. Try removing the earth wire of the plug pack from the board. If this rectifies the fault, you most likely have a ground loop problem.
