Default Garmin Topo Au & NZ V3 + MapSource

To make it easier for forum users, I have posted these links & info from another forum for

Garmin Topo Australia & New Zealand V3

Do not confuse this with OzTopo V3

    totally different map product.

"Garmin TOPO Australia provides the best scale multipurpose recreational coverage for Australia.
With routable roads, getting to your destination is made simple with turn-by-turn directions on compatible units. Plus,
you can search for points of interest by name or proximity to your location. Whether you are navigating in town or cross-country,
TOPO Australia will ensure you’re ready for your next bushwalking, camping or 4WD adventure.

    Special features include:

    • Coverage for all of Australia
    • Terrain contours at 20 metres approximating 1:100K maps
    • Routable road content provided by NAVTEQ and HEMA; includes everything from urban
streets to national highways including famous outback routes such as Birdsville, Strezelecki, Oodnadatta, Canning Stock and more
    • Railways, tracks, paths and trails; includes 4WD destinations
    • Water coverage of perennial and seasonal lakes, rivers and streams
    • Searchable points of interest in urban and outback areas including lodging, entertainment,
food, airports, parks, campsites, caravan parks and more, provided by NAVTEQ and HEMA
    • Searchable landmarks, place names and cities such as mountains, water bodies, regions and more
    • National, regional and local park coverage
    • Elevation profiling and 3-D view, DEM shading on compatible units allows you to estimate terrain difficulty."

Many people have had the problem of finding an unlocked version of this Image file.
Here it is. It will load on most units that can handle files over 2gig.

    “Mapsource Installation Kit” version.
This is a complete kit with all programs needed to install and run the mapsource version of Garmin topo3 Australia.
It includes Mapsource 6.16.3, The patched Exe file, Unlocked Topo 3 Mapsource version (decompiled and remade from IMG file) and text files to explain how to install the programs.
You don’t need to install everything in the kit if you already have Mapsource on your computer. You can just install Topo3 Australia by copying the folder to the place you want your maps to be and running the install.bat file.(you can rename the folder if you wish before running the bat file to something like “Garmin topo 3 Australia”)
Read the TXT files included . I have made this complete kit so no one needs to ask questions.
Please only download this if you have an original version of Topo3 this kit has been made to improve the functionality of the mapset by being able to use them in Mapsource.
Benefits of installing a marsource version of Garmin Topo 3: By using this mapsource installation you will be able to combine maps tiles from multiple maps, Select only the tiles you want so you can keep the file size smaller(faster loading of maps on GPS), load the maps onto earlier GPS units that have the 2gig limit, Load multiple maps onto one SD card and switch between them(up to the 2000 tile limit and card limit).

Additional Note: For those that are having trouble seeing the map in Mapsource. If you only see a Beige background and no map.

You need to: Scroll to the location of Australia and then zoom in to 200km or less at highest detail level. If you have it set at lowest detail level you will need to zoom in to 15km or less.
The map is not visible untill you zoom in. (one of the glitches with decompiled maps)

FYI: It takes more than 30 seconds for the full map to load and show on the screen on my 60csx from start up. Once it loads it works fine. My guess is the processor is a bit slow for such a big map. (be patient)

Discs mailed 8-2-12, haven't heard if received yet, Aust Post can be slow rural to rural areas for small packages.
I'm sure puca will post links when he can.

Please don't waste you time with Filebox as it's ridiculously slow!

Fileserve, Depositfiles and WUpload are still working but torrents are the only way to get these big files without waiting days for a free download!

TPB comes down for me at 24 Mbps so the file was dloaded after a slow 9 minutes, tops!

I am grateful for all your efforts uploading this but I have recently bought a Garmin GPS with this map included to find that despite the claims of "all tracks, paths and trails" there is a coastal bike track (bitumen) not shown, even though it appears on the City Navigator map. There is also a long section of road on the West Coast of Australia that has been completed over two years ago missing, some of you may remember me moaning about this in other posts. I reported it back then to Garmin and map makers but obviously wasted my time. (I love a whinge)
