    Default Motherboard Replacement

I am about to replace my motherboard with a new one (2GHz). Once completed will it be safe to do a repair to Windows XP to allow it to boot under the new motherboard without losing any of my data, or will it wipe out my data currently? I beleive a repair of XP only reinstalls windows and keeps your information safe.

    Thanks
