As safe as any other OS on the market. Just make sure that your system is up to date with the latest security patches.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

are they a game designed for linux? if a windows game you will need to use some emulator program like WINE or a Virtual Machine like VMWARE.

I use Knoppix Live for internet banking. (Westpac) A bit of a pain rebooting, but more of a pain if you lost all your money.

As a side note I have a linux version of avast antivirus installed on my Ubuntu system now, if the Windows partition stats to act funny I'll just boot ubuntu and virus scan it from there as well.
Really there are a few security flaws in linux too but they tend to be far less dramatic than the windows ones.
