    Default laptop hdd part?

i got sum compaq thing here, for life of me i cant see how hdd fits? like its missing some adaptor that goes on the pins then into like contact slots.
at 1st i thought a cradle maybe of some sort.
they pulled hdd out to put in a caddy for recovery, hence i feel theres a bit missing and they have no idea.

    Default

Yes, I have seen something like that. It's a basic cradle that holds the drive, and has an interface socket arrangement at one end. The drive plugs into this socket thing, the other side of the socket mates up to a matching socket/plug system on the chassis of the laptop.

Typical Compaq - you have to use THEIR system and THEIR gear. Much like those banana computers.
