I call it crapware, same as AVG, AntiVIR and a few others.

Most other free antivirus progs have crappy popups as well now so it might be easier to use MSE if the customer doesn't want to pay for protection.

Are they still giving it away for free?
I used it a few years ago and it was a pain in the arse, deleted it and will never use it again.

Interesting, I've just given Zone Alarm the flick because the e-mail scanner was causing all sorts of grief! Installed Comodo free to try it out and have not had any issues yet. Tried it a few years back and did not like, but now it's a vast improvement. I'll keep an eye on it, why were you attempting to remove it, was it causing problems?

That's more the fault of the user than the firewall or the Anti viral package. If a crook steals your silver after you've let him in, you can't blame the locksmith. I've seen a few nasty filled 'puters, and 90% of the time is because they "trusted" some clown who promised them a million dollars via e-mail or they believed that Indian bloke who rings up with information about a "virus" that your 'puter has "contracted", Good security is only as good as the people using it. Yeah you are right I too blame the user

But with the amount of effort it took to install the bloody thing you
think it would be a bit more secure than what it was lol

Very hard to protect a system when the Internet Security software is below par. I had a look on the VB100 listings and CIS is just a middle of the range product, even AVG scores higher, not that I would wish AVG on anyone.

For the freebies Antivir Free always seems to score well although it's another one of these freebie packages that includes popups to try and get sales, bloody annoying.
