    Cool Know of this ?

I was talking to one of my clients that I do subby work for , about an upcoming camera job. He said "have you used adaptors before?" This guy is very untechnical & I gave him "the look" & said "more information" because "adaptors " meant nothing to me.
So what he is talking about is a device that allows more than one camera to run on a single coax. Now I'm well versed in the principles & practice of multiplexing as used in telephony but I have never seen or heard of this used for cameras. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

There is baluns that allow 4 cameras over 1 utp cable.

Then there is the VDS units which allow multiple Video/Audio/Power Over One Coax but are expensive, which outway the cost of installing individual cables. I have used this on an existing job where a existing cable existed and the costs of installing a extra cable or two was way too expensive ie ripping up a public road.

    cheers

    Cool

That VDS gear sounds like what he's using. Be interesting to see how it goes.

there good man. i did a job probably three years ago. had to add anohter camera to a light pole. there was no way of getting a cable there without trenching the car park. put one unit at one end anotehr unit at the other and job done, dont think i even had to set anything up, just plug and play

basically 2 in 1 out at one end. 2 in 1 out at the other.

you couldnt tell the difference with the picture either

Added bonus is you can power a 12v camera from the TX unit.

DAS/PACOM have them (as do others) and have adapters to allow megapixel IP Ethernet connectivity over 250m of coax...
Good for retro fit of older jobs

My way of thinking if you can send 100mb down 250m of coax the multiplexing will be a walk in the park.
