    Default Limewire help

    if wrong forum, pleased relocate.
I have downloaded 3 tracks from Limewire and 2 wont play and one wont delete and they seem to be complete and I think show at the lead the quicktime icon.
When I click on the 2, they appear in the bottom box but there is no other details shown there and if you repeat the 'Launch' it just duplicates it.

The one that wont play or delete has that rubbish after title name of 'girl with orgasm' etc, is this some kind of a spam or virus ?
I have 2 others downloaded from Limewire and they play normaly with no hassles what so ever.
BTW, this is not the PRO version, just the freebie.
I have Imesh and now Emule but I havent used Emule yet.

    How I miss AudioGalaxy.........................

What am I doing wrong with this?

    My rules for Limewire:
1.Always have peer guardian running with it...may save a nasty notice from the music industry

    2. Limewire has a LOT of dodgy downloads...I never download a song with about 20 or more sharers ...go for one with just a few or even just one..less likely to be bogus.

    3. Don't stuff around with a bad download...just get another.

    Hope this helps.

    my rule for limewire:
1.don't use limewire at all, this is where all the viruses/malware come from.

LOL add another rule to mandc.

If you are using Limewire on a network where you shouldn't be, DONT, Itunes can find Limewire easily and show people what you have (I caught a few guys at work downloading porn through limewire this way, and yes I always check what people are sharing in Itunes!)

I'd go with Ben10's rule though, because limewire has a lot of dogey downloads with it.
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

I'll second that. I would not touch it with a 20 foot pole.A news subscription like would be a better move.

So by the tone of the replies, I take it all of you are Major shareholders in Limewire???

ok, firstly I managed to delete the dodgy download by going into Widows Media Player and when I found the track there I deleted it and that also deleted it in the Limewire library.
It claimed it couldnt delete it in Limewire because it could be or was in use by another application.
I have deleted the other 2 that didnt want to play so now to find one track hopefully somewhere else.
What I want is the sequal to the Newcastle Song by Bob Hudson called 'Rack off Normie' sang by Maureen Elkner.
And yes, I have been to the Pathernon Milk Bar in Hunter Street.

Seriously, I would like a copy of it so if you find it,please contact me and see what we can arrange.
If I remember correctly, didnt they make a video of this and it was played on something hosted by Ray Martin that ran after the news on 7 at 7 or 7.30pm weeknights?? was it This Day Tonight?
She was dressed as a real bikies Moll, short skirt, leather jacket,Boofy hairdo, makeup etc.
I 'Googled' Maureen Elkner and nothing shown since 2006.
Must do Bob Hudson, wonder if he is still on radio in Newcastle.............

isn't LimeWire funny how you can type anything into the search and it will find it.

Someone must of made a script that will rename there virus's to what your looking for

Make up a word and do a search for it heres one I have done (gniniart drib) its bird training backwards

    you'll get a
    93.7 KB file zip
    93.9 KB file zip
    5.611KB file mp3
    3.462KB file mp3

now try you own works and see what the file sizes are

I'd like a copy of that too if you can (and presuming it's a reasonably high bitrate if it's an mp3 - wav would be better if you can).

    Cheers!

I had a look at that K-Tel site but if I read it correctly, the record with the track I want is called Outer Sight and is divided into 2 parts.
    Part 1 is a 95MB download and part 2 is over a 100mb.
200 MB is a bit much for just one track.
the other is which part has the track I want?

Is there no other way to find and download a single track from that site?

I shudder to think how long all of that would take to download on dialup.

What you are seeing is the entire album divided into 2 parts to allow rapidshare upload which has a limit of 100MB
The actual size of part 2 is 20MB not over 100 MB
    Part1 95mb
    Part2 20mb

In general, if your wanted track is near the end of the album, you may get it by just downloading part 2 and using winrar to get the track but sometimes you need both parts to make up the complete file that has been split

Part 2 has only last two tracks (19 & 20) and album art.
Newcastle Song is track 5 and Rak Off Normie is track 14.
I was able to extract part 2 on its own in Ubuntu.
Still have to get first part.

Yes, but I use this to screen dodgy downloads. You search for an incomplete string, like midnigh +oil for example, then ignore any results that don't complete the name.

But you still need to be very careful, and as DND suggests, file size can also be an indicator of trouble.

I use it as a last resort.

    cheers
    ian
