cd ripping

what do you guys use for ripping cd's
ive always used iTunes but recently thats gone to shit and i cant be bothered fxing it so ive decided to just use something else
i started with Audiograbber and no matter what settings i changed it seemed to always rip as a .wav file, got sick of trying to change that so pissed it off.
now im trying Exact Audio Copy, after looking around it seems that the combination of that and Lame together is the best way to rip cd's but oh man how long does it take! it seems to want to take 3hrs for 1 cd, no way am i gonna wait that long for every cd i want to rip
anyone got suggestions on making it a hell of a lot quicker or some alternative program?

Not sure what your really after. why not use media player if your just trying to rip from CD to MP3. didn't think it took that long but then again I haven't ripped a CD (oh yeh those things) for years.....

I would use EAC except that it doesn't recognize my Asus drives.

just went through the audiograbber tut, didnt reralize you had to rip to wav then encode as mp3

i would reccommend using easy cd-da extractor, rips the cd straight to high quality mp3 files

Id3 Tagit for simplicity but if I want to add images to the mp3 files, Media Monkey is good

Theres derfinetly some thing wrong if it's going to take 3hours, is the disc damaged? Eac tries to get the best rip so if theres a scratch or dirt it will re read almost endlessly. Ripping takes between 8-15mins normally on my pc at 192vbr.

Id try another disc, apart from that you can choose in the options if either speed or accuracy is important to you, i always left it on accuracy but id guess if you click the speed one youd get similar encoding times to all the other mp3 encoder programs.

You can get the tracks names in eac by going
database-get cd info from-remote freedb

you might also need to have included an email address for this, any made up one will do.

I have been using Cdex for years, until recently it started creating empty files - ie the track was there but when played it was just silence.

I've used EAC for some time since and it works well, especially on scratched or dodgy discs.
