    Default PSP wont boot

Hi i have pandora battery and made a memory stick to suit it.
tried it on a psp fat worked no problems,
tried the same on psp slim and after it would hang on formating flash1, fixed that - now it goes all the way through putting m33 on says all files fine. take out battery put in normal one and when you boot the green light stays on for 10 seconds then goes out - no flash on screen no ms stick busy.

The only way to get anything on the screen is toput pandora battery back in and ms stick.
have tried putting original 3.8 back on as well , still the same.

    Any ideas?

When you prepared your memory stick, was it for a phat?

You can't run 1.5 on a slim so the magic stick must be for a slim or both, ie what works on a fat may not work on a slim

you were right Ozchips, i didn't read your post correctly.
    repartition then format using nandtool.

I searched for hours found many post with the same problems but no one had the answer.

hopefully this will help others too.

OK I have the same problem with a PSP slim.......my problem is that I cant see the "format partitions" option in the menu.I can repartition it & that will allow to instal CFW, but black screen when using a normal battery.

Have tried Nandtool 0.2 & 0.3 but still the same. Its got me stumped.

When you run Nandtool 0.3 specifically what does it have up on the screen. You cannot select format partitions ?

98% method for fixing any non booting psp slim is -
    repartition
    format partitions
    use DC5 to install FW.

    Thanks for the reply....

Ok,initially when trying to instal CFW, it would get stuck on Flash 1.....so load Nandtools, repartition & then try to instal CFW...says it does it successfully. Insert normal battery in slim & turn on....black screen & turns off after 20secs or so.
There are 2 options(running V0.2 atm but have tried 0.3 also) when i get into "other" menu in Nandtools, in this order:
    Bad Block Check
    Repartition

There is meant to be a "format" option there to but its just not there?

Run v0.3b1, Format flash is not in v2
Make sure you have back up your nand first. Just incase you screw it.

I tried 0.3b1 first(i referred to it just as 0.3 above) & there were extra options within the "OTHER" menu, but not format....& only tried 0.2 in desperation...lol.
When you run DC5 it says its formatting anyway, so isn't it doin it anyway?Or thats just the flash0??

Download 0.3b1 again and make sure you are renaming the correct elf file. Sounds like you might of installed 0.2 thinking it was 0.3b1. 0.2 has no format option.

Downloaded 0.3b1 from link above...installed "nandtool_03_beta1_nousb.elf" into the kd folder of the MS & renaming it to backup.elf(renaming the original to something else). Insert pandora battery & boot nandtool V0.3, go into "OTHER" & the options are:
    -bad block check
    -repartition lflash
    -dump idstore keys
    -write idstore keys

I tried loading the nandtool_03_beta1_nousb.elf in the elf folder & putting resurection.elf from kd folder in there also, & putting resurection.elf from pandora_elf_menu0.3a in kd folder.....boots to black screen when loading the nandtool_03_beta1_nousb.elf on man menu, so not sure whats goin n there

idstorage keys options are new to 0.3b1 so it has to be 0.3b1 ...

I will have a chat with cory and see if there is a reason for the option not showing.

One option that I don't recommend just yet is to dump your keys to MS and back them up. Write a nanddump from a working PSP slim to your PSP then reinstate your keys with IDStorage Manager.

You are booting the nousd version right ? The usb version will not boot without extra files.

What are you loading the elf with ? A MS set up with DC5 only ?

Grab Grader v003.2 and install it on a card. Put nandtool nousb version in the elf folder on the root drive of the MS. No need to rename it. Remove battery, Hold down Left shoulder button, Insert pandora battery. Select nandtool nousb from the elf menu and tell us how you go.
