    Default Nintendo 3DS

Hello, I am about to buy my son a Nintendo 3DS, my question is are they able to be modded to play "backed up" games?

Can you play earlier DS games on a 3DS?

    thanks Yobbo

You don't mod your console, just use a r4i card

    Works 4 me.

The cartridges do work on the 3DS, but only play the NDS (2D) games, so yes you can play all your earlier 2D games.

No 3D game support as yet for the cartridges.

The reason I asked is both of ours stopped working about a week ago.
I can't remember the exact error.
The fix is to change the date back, I changed it back to 2010 and the cards are now working again.

    An error has occurred.
Press and hold the Power Button
    to turn the system off.
    Please refer to the Operations

After about 2 hours I got out of my Daughter that the new game said it had to pdate the firmware to the latest version

Might have to check to see if the R4 have made a update as of yet

    Cheers

Don't cheap out and get a crappy r4, you'll need to keep replacing them everytime a update comes out.

Get yourself a M3i Zero, Supercard DSi One, Supercard DSiTWO etc or any other with a USB Updatable Bootloader. That means everytime they release a update, the flashcart teams release one themselves.

    Default latest choice of cart?

Hey all, Want a recommendation of current cart provider? Heard that a lot have been blocked recently with firmware upgrade. Anyone point me in the right direction?

    Cheers
