    Yes, from ebay.

Yes, I agree the workmanship is lovely and comes from an era when a craftsman was truly a craftsman. Its not something I normally collect due to antique silver being a bit too pricey for me, but I couldnt resist the style, engraving and workmanship.

I wish our country had some sort of history like european countries do. When this set was made in London in 1856, Melbourne had only been founded for 21 years !

had a quick look online about these sets at the franks web site,

They have 4 sets listed there, nice price on them to, but i think yours would get a better price due to the age and branding ?

Here is a bit of basic info cut and pasted :

George Unite was a hugely successful silversmith, earning a reputation for producing items that reflected the Victorian taste for high decoration and sumptuous design.

He was born in Birmingham in 1798 and was apprenticed to Joseph Willmore at the age of 12.

Fomerly in partnership with James Hilliard, George Unite entered his first mark alone at Birmingham on the 8th August 1832 using the address 42, Caroline Street, Birmingham.George Unite died on the 19th October 1896.

The business of George Unite & Sons amalgamated with that of William Henry Lyde in 1928 and was known as George Unite Sons & Lyde Ltd.

I did also read that the company went downhill after his death and his 2 sons dissolved their partnership. He also made a lot of smaller items such as baby rattles of all things.

Was unpacking some boxes after the move and found an ornate silver 3 candle holder Someone was going to sell it to a pawn shop years ago so I said I'd take it. Can't remember how much I paid but $100 seems to stick in my memory.

Nice piece Sanity. But having a closer look, I think you got ripped off.
