To update your device with this latest v885 Australia map, follow these 7 simple steps:

    1) VERY IMPORTANT: Connect your device to your computer via USB or insert your SD card (if you normally use one for your device) into your card reader. Using Windows Explorer, open your TomTom drive and backup the complete contents of your TomTom by simply copy pasting all the files into a new folder on your pc.

    2) Check your navcore version. You can do this either on the device menu under Version Info, or you can check the navcore version in TomTom Home when the device is connected to your computer.

As mentioned in post #1, ONLY if your navcore version is at least 8.2xxx or higher, then you can use this map.

    3) Delete the old map folder.

    4) Copy across the new map folder into the root of the device or SD card.

    5) Download the latest version of FastActivate Premium Edition from the FastActivate thread here:

    - Look for the latest posts for the latest version.

    6) Unzip the file and copy across FastActivate.exe to the TomTom drive (the root of the device or SD card).

    7) Run FastActivate.exe from the TomTom drive, clicking on all 4 options in order, from left to right, waiting for each to complete:
Update meta, activate maps, patch navcore & home.

I have a TT XXL 540 in which I am trying to update maps as stated using process above.

When running FastActivate Premium and then clicking on the update meta.txt button, it states that the it "Could not get file time on server".

I am definately connected to the internet.

    Any suggestions?

Try it again tomorrow, as it could be a server issue. I have updated several devices in the last couple of weeks using this map and activated it using FastActivate Premium 1.8.8.1 - it has worked every time.

You do realise that a GPS never fails?
So if it says you are in a paddock than most likely you are!
Just because you feel and see a road under your car does not mean there is one....

You need a patched NC and an activated map, both can be done in two simple steps using FastActivate premium.

Voice commands on a 730 won't work with a standard installation.
All you get is the spoken dialog for addresses.
If you want full voice control you need X40 or X50 emulation.
Check my upload of the 9.401 which has all needed emus included.

I just put this on my GO720 and it went into an endless boot loop - The drumbeat screen, the progress line across the bottom, then a minute or so of the startup cloud screen, then off, then it all started again.

Went back to my previous map and it's OK again.

    Have I missed something?

Earlier this evening TomTom Home installed 9.401 and then the 720 told me the map can't be used on this model, so I got the latest fastactivate and it got it working again. This new map seems to have confused it - (or perhaps it's me that's confused).

Since the 9.401 is the official NC for your model it will work just fine if installed correctly.

A reboot loop usually indicates a problem with the mapsettings.cfg or leftover files from the old NC.
If in doubt make a full backup of your device, delete all except the map folder and install the new NC.
An overwrite should work fine too, however it may cause problems if the old NC is not compatible for a direct update.
The computervoices will work fine on either the 720 and 730.

OK, I've got it sorted. Had a big bowl of ice cream (sugar hit) then realised I'd copied the map folder over instead of deleting the old one. It obviously left some old files in there that the new maps didn't like. Did a proper delete and move of the new map file and it's all up and running.

Thanks for the work you guys put into this place.
