    Default Image Hosting

Imageshack now has far too many ads and popups and have been experimenting with user account only uploads lately which doesnt suit the needs of forum users. A new image hosting link has been embedded in the text box when creating a thread, replying to a thread or using quick reply.

Simply, click on the text add image to post.

Thats all you have to apart from selecting the image from your computer and selecting the size you want (please use sizes applicable to the page size, it offers many options). If in doubt, select thumbnail so forum members can click on it to get full size. We dont want pages full of oversize pictures.

It will then upload the image and embed the image code in the post for you. Its very easy, but should you have any problems post here.

    Thanks

After a bit of experimenting it seems that it will simply post up a reasonable sized picture regardless of what you select, when you click on the image it will show it to you at the size you originally selected.

So thats even better Moderators wont have to keep removing oversized images which was the case with imageshack.

It seems that no matter what size is selected.... or just left as 'do not resize'... a thumbnail size image is produced on the forum page.

Only when you click on the thumbnail it opens the larger image, but not in the forum page.

I reckon just don't resize at all... that's what I do.

You'll still get a thumbnail on the forum page.

Yes but test1 shows that it wont expand whereas test 2 (15inch monitor) does that's my query, not that it matters much now that it's been sorted out, thanks to beer4life.

B4L suggested you were resizing to thumbnail, that's why pics won't expand.

I'm saying, don't resize the original at all.

The website automatically produces a thumbnail... try it that way.

Let's see what happens if "Do not Resize" is used?
    Original 1280 x 851
A wee bit oversized when you click on the Thumbnail.
With all due respect, please check your facts first.

Exactly what I said it would do.... it creates a thumbnail in the forum post, but opens full size in the postimage.org website when you click on the thumbnail.

    Wink Horses for courses.

    au contraire Cobber.
That was not what you said.
Defeats the whole purpose as originally stated, if you still need to scroll the expanded image.

While I have your attention, PostImage is not conducive to GIF files. I've yet to check other image formats.
There are many Tutorials that we use with GIF images.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

That's right but if when you upload an image you set your image to thumbnail as i said in post 3 above what you get is a thumbnail in your post THAT WONT EXPAND as in test 1 above, whereas in test 2 selecting the upload option to 15 inch monitor (800x600) the thumbnail that appears in the post will expand when clicked on Try it out for yourself.

Well sorry about that, b4l was the one who was tearing his balls out by the root to sort it out for me, but i guess that's what comes with old age, we don't seem to catch on that easy.
