Westinghouse Freestyle 472 gas wall oven ignition problem

I live in a small town in the boonies so the chance of finding someone to repair the bottled gas wall oven is remote.

The hot surface igniter glows but gas is not turned on and hence no ignition. Reading around the 'net would seem to indicate that the hot surface igniter is not drawing enough current to get hot enough to open the gas safety valve.

Assuming this is the problem then:

1. I cannot read the actual model number - it has been cleaned a few times too many - so how can I order the replacement igniter?

2. How is it replaced?

3. Looking at the burner it could/should be replaced as well - there are a couple of large holes at the igniter end - so question 3 and 4 are similar to 1# and 2#.

Any pointers gratefully received.

if burner has holes - replace it & the hsi igniter as well
drop complete burner down & access from the back.

I would also be looking at the regulator, how long ago was it checked?

However the determination of the correct part numbers to order is done how given that the model number is indecipherable?

Take a photo of unit when you ring spare parts get an email address and send it to them some parts pickers are quite knowledgeable and may give you the part number also post on here

I havent seen a 'Hot Plate' used as all my LPG Gas units use a 'Spark' across 2 terminals that lights the Gas and you hold down the 'Start' untill the tip on the Thermocouple glows to the right temperature and allows the gas to flow to the burner.
I have seen the igniter itself fail with no spark and the thermocouple fail and although it glowed, it wouldnt open the line to allow the Gas to flow

When the ignitor fails sometimes it possible to light the unit with a Taper or Match held near the tip of the thermocouple, light the on the match and turn on the gas and hopefully the Gas will ignite and will continue to burn.

The usual warning is to be extremely carefull, always wait a few minutes each time if you dont get it to light the first time and and keep your hand and face away in case of a 'blowback'.
Make sure the room is well ventilated too, that LPG gas can make a very big bang with a very little amount of gas.
Like most things if its more than a few years old, parts will be almost non existant unfortunately.

My original post was actually "Plan B" if all else failed. Had a guy come in this morning to look at it - as usual the sodding thing lit - but after I described the symptoms he rang "Nev" who said that the igniter and something else was needed.

The $$$ were discussed and the decision was made to proceed with the repair. The parts should arrive in a few days so I am hoping that early next week we will be able to have a pizza, then another night a roast and then ...

The truth is that the oven has been out of action for about 6 weeks now. When it first went U/S I rang the authorised service agent. He was on holiday in Queensland - no comment here - and wouldn't be back working until the first week In Feb.

He eventually arrived and to say he didn't have a clue is giving him undue praise. At least I had searched the 'net so had some idea of what should happen. When he couldn't read the model number he "washed his hands" of the repair.

The oven did light a couple of times after that but was very unreliable so I looked elsewhere. The rest of the story was posted above.

Definetely the ignitor is the problem. The ignitor is glowing hot but the thermo resistor doesn't change it's resistance enough to get the gas valve to open. It costed me $52 for the ignitor plus labour last time I had it done.
Expect it to fail every 5-7 years depending on the oven use.
And the burner needs to be replaced if you see holes here.
