    Default Sony speaker 1-826-237-11

    G'day folks

For a project I'm after a Sony speaker part no. 1-826-237-11 which is a 3" circular but I don't know what panel models it is used in.

I've sent multiple emails to a number of companies in the U.S. whose websites indicate stock but no response (CodeMicro, Orlando LCD, Noho Electronics).

Ideally new, but pulled from a working unit would be fine.

Anyone have one, or can suggest companies I can contact?

    Damien

From memory SpeedySpares used to sell Sony spare parts so it might be worth giving them a call. The phone number is on the website linked below.

If you put sony 1-826-237-11 into google and click on images, a few will come up. Here is one:

OK; somewhere I saw they were used in a Sony rear projection model but they haven't made them for a while

So another brand of 3" circular speaker won't work?

Re the one on ebay. Yes, I saw that but when I attempted to contact the seller, no matter what the question related to, the ebay response was:
We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately, this seller is not able to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing.
Strange - haven't seen that before.

Another brand might work, without seeing one or having all the physical dimensions it would be hard to know for sure. This Sony model will definitely work.

I thought I might be lucky and turn up a source locally, or details on a U.S. parts supplier who is known to respond to queries and deal internationally.

    I'll try Speedy Spares.

For what it is worth, a google indicates it is used in the following models:

    Sony KDSR50XBR1
    Sony KDS-R60XBR1
    Sony KDSR60XBR2
    Sony KDSR70XBR2

Can't tell you - secret squirrel stuff

No, nothing interesting. An external speaker box for a piece of radio gear has a cheap basic speaker in it worth a couple of dollars, and it sounds accordingly. It fits in a small recess in the front moulding so options are limited.

This particular Sony speaker is/was used in their panels and has good low to mid frequency response, and is said to make a major improvement in voice quality in my application. Importantly, it fits in the same space with the same mounting holes.

    I see.

Obviously not for morse code reception.
And seems someone has done it previously.
No point re-inventing the wheel if the wheel is still round at a wheel good price.
    Cheers.
