Default System DEAD after Vista install..lol

Ok, this might just be bad timing.

I recieved my copy of Vista 64bit this morning, so I formatted my hard drive and installed Vista. Machine reboot a few time while setting up drivers etc, nothing out of the ordinary.

Then, I told the machine to shut down. and well it did shut down normally. Then I went to power it back up. Nothing DEAD.

The Computer was shut down by Vista 32 the same morning with no problems.

    Things I've done:

Reset CMOS with power supply completely disconnected from motherboard.
Tried Power supply on another machine (works fine)
Forced power supply to turn on unplugged from motherboard, but connected to other devices (short pins 14 & 15)...Powered up fine.
Removed CPU tried to power on....Nothing
Removed all ram, and other devices. Nothing.
Removed MB from Case and tried powering on. ..Nothing
Removed CPU, Ram, Video card, and ram tried powering on...Nothing.
    Tried different PS...Nothing..

Would you guys say its the Motherboard?
    its a GigaByte M56S-S3. AM2 Board
    I've just upgraded to a AM2 6000+

It happed AFTER install Vista 64, Just before I shut it down, I heard a fan Running at full speed.
    Bad timing I'd say.

If its a MB, which would you guys pick. ASUS M3A or Gigabyte MA770-DS3

No CPU fan, no PS Fan, just dead.

The PS will power up when you join pin 14 & 15, it will powerup all the HDD's and System fans, just nothing on the MB, even when you manually short the power pins on the MB..

I was thinking the Asus too...

    Thanks DND.

You can have this dead one if you want. see if you can do anything with it.

I've ordered an ASUS M3A. At least then if I ever deside to upgrade to a Phenom I can.

    just for curiousity i would
    remove cpu,ram,cmos battery overnight.
replace them and only 1 stick of ram, no hdd ,case ect.
short the start pins and see if its a goer.

1 step ahead of you mate..

Just tried powering it on again then...Nothing.

Order the Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 may stick a phenom in it one day..lol..
You'll get first dibs on the 6000+ when I do..lol

I think I was lucky though, I chose to shut down the machine when I heard a fan running at full speed. I guess if I didn't it may have kill other components. Man I hope it didn't buying the MB is breaking the bank.
But my wife understands I use the computer everyday, and her P4 2Ghz doesn't cut it...lol

    Yeah I did. Same thing.

Though the PSU did die today, so it must of took the motherboard out first.

I now know where the fan spinning at full speed was..In the PSU..

Everything else should be fine as I shut down the pc BEFORE the PSU blew completely.

It was more of a poke at vista, I know it can't kill hardware, if it could I would pat MS on the back for finally making the worlds worst OS..lol.
