    Post Cable raceway

Interested to hear other people's ideas about drilling cable raceways in external doors
    for mortice locks.

Personally I free drill them with the door braced on its lock and hinge face. However, I am also aware of the SDC raceway drill and doing it with custom drill bits but, curious to know if there are other ideas out there?

Generally wedge the door. Then free drill starting with a shorter drill bit.

I use a one piece auger drill bit so that it has no flex in it. I have used speedbors/spades but have to make sure not to flex them.

I try not drill a hole any bigger than 10mm so that the door is not structurally weakened with a hole too big in diameter.

Funny, I used to use a long auger bit but I've changed to a custom speedbor/spade bit. Do you find the auger easier than the speedbors?
