    Default Ram installation

I just bought a kingston 1gb ddr 400mhz pc3200 memory for my aopen mx46-800n mobo.
i have 2x 512mb sticks in there already that work fine giving me 1gb ram
i took one of the 512mb sticks out (generic ram) that was in slot 2 and inserted the kingston 1gb.
    so now i have a kingston 1gb in slot 1 and a kingston 512mb in slot 2
i boot up my pc it goes through the POST but just before it loads the vista screen it reboots and i get stuck in this loop.
I took the 512mb kingston out leaving just the 1gb kingston stick in slot 1 and booted up again and my monitor doesnt even load nor does the beep.
But putting the 512mb sticks back in i get the pc and vista working again
I returned the stick and got another kingston stick (same brand) and this is going the same thing. (double checked that ram clipped in both sides)
is there a latency setting i have to change in bios?
also my mobo does support upto 2gb ram so i dont think thats the cause of the problem
and also i have a radeon x800 256mb video card installed
would someone know what the fault might be? the kingston model is a (KVR400X64C3A)

I had the same problem with an Asus 939 board,
I was using GEIL, went and bought another stick 6 months after the first,
and the second stick wouldn't workm I took it back and brought kingston and that worked fine.
Some boards just can be fussy on ram and different revisions of the same brand.

if its anything like my board you need 2 matching sticks of ram...so get another 1 gig stick and it should be ok.
