Hi Precious, how does one go about unlocking the chart on a MAC?
Cheers!
You can't really as basically everything has been written for windows OS
you can download some mac/garmin programs
The only unlocking i know of on a mac is the gmap folders but that is of no use to you here
with these marine charts as there is no mapsource version
you could try virtualization with a windows os on your mac
also you can use jetmouse on a mac with wine to create a unl file
Step 1: Use the Keygen Jetmouse v1.5. You will have to input 2 things into the interface:
1. The Garmin Unit ID or the SD card ID(if you want to store the map on the SD card)
If you are using Garmin Nuvi: Look for Unit ID
If you are using Garmin Mobile XT, look for Card ID or ESN #.
2. The MapID of the map you want to install.
Step 2: With the above 2 information, you can then generate a 25-digits unlock code from the key-gen.
1. If your map is gmapsupp.img, then create a notepad, save the unlocked code as "gmapsupp.unl"
2. If your map is gmapprom1.img, then create a notepad, save the unlocked code as "gmapprom1.unl" (This filename is unique to nuvi)
3. If your map is gmapprom.img, then create a notepad, save the unlocked code as "gmapprom.unl"
4. If your map is gmapsup2.img, then create a notepad, save the unlocked code as "gmapsup2.unl" (This filename is unique for mobile xt)
So make sure that you know which map has what filename represented by "gmapxxxx.img" and then you can generate a unlock code filename with "gmapxxxx.unl"
Other than that it might be easier to get a hold of a cheap PC or a $200 laptop with windows OS

I have garman base camp on my computer but wish to load the blue chart maps. Are the above files for the gps unit or to go into base camp?
These maps are .img for GPS.
They can be made useable in MapSource & BaseCamp using GmapTool (with cGpsmapper) Save me writing it all down read it here.
Links for GmapTool & cGpsmapper.
GMapTool 0.6.2 - 29.3.2012
If you have a marine GPS you should have HomePort software that reads bluecharts.
If not it's here
