I recently had a conversation with a member here, who set me straight on a few things i did not know.. many thanks to you (you know whom your are)
Was wondering if anybody had any interesting youtube vid's that might be worth a watch.
I thought I'd kick it off, with a couple that I have been watching.
NOTE: I know next to zero about this kind of thing, but opened minded enough to at least learn about it.
this I thought was interesting story from a bloke in the USA doing the cabin thing...
This I thought had some interesting stuff on space saving idea's..
if anybody has any other youtube channels that might be worth a look, please post.

If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.

The little cabin in the first vid is cute. I want one like that after this house blows away from the next cyclone.

For some reason I have been following the US prepper movement for a while. Some of their stuff can be a bit hard to take and you can get overwhelmed with paranoia and want to go bush with some tinned goods!
But sometimes you will get some good info. I like to watch this guy mainly and a few others that I would be embarrassed to admit to publicly.

I could do it but i would have a hard time convincing the wife and the two girls to do it LOL
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
I love a bit of prepper stuff
Peak oil is around the corner and its cool to be self sufficient just in case.
Harold Bates Chicken poo powered car is the winner for me.

Simple shipping container home
I'd hate to think how hot that container would get in the summer.
Like any structure if its not well ventilated it will get hot or cold for that matter but with a false roof or well insulated, its not a problem.
Set on blocks and anchored down, it would probably withstand just about any storm safely.

I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
I knocked up a 5 x 8 double garage (colourbond) in my back yard for my "mancave". I have plaster lined the roof and walls and put insulation between the colourbond and plaster, ie, made it a room. It is quite cool in summer but does get cold in winter. I think I may beed to put some sort of floor covering down as it is just bare concrete. However, it has surved its purpose, that is, got all my HAM equipoment and enabled me to set up a dedicated electronics work area and store all my shit.
Now if I could only do similar up in the high country on a couple of acres!!!!!
