Default USB use on a NON PVR enabled STB

As the installer was leaving he made the remark that a USB stick could be 'Read' from the USB port to show pics etc on the TV.
I said the STB wasnt PVR enabled and replied that didnt matter, it could 'Read' JPegs etc a USB stick and display them on the TV screen.
I always understood the USB on the NON PVR models was purely for installing Updates and nothing else.
I read the User Instructions and damned if I can see any reference to that facility being available so whose right and what have I missed ??
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Jab the box with a USB stick full of JPG's & see what happens
