Default Newbie Guide to Recording DM500 content?

Does anyone have a newbie guide to setting up a PVR on a local PC or Mac for recording DM500 streams.

There is scattered info around but cant seem to get it going. Anyone have a step by step guide?

    Thanx

well in the end i have decided to create an image that only need a few things edited at you end to work the setup is for a 10700 lnb

1: go to menu/expert setup and set the ip you want and make sure you set the gateway etc then save.

2: go to mounts and change the ip to that of your computer and also change the username and pass to match that of your comp and save. Dont change anything else in there

3: now on your computer on the root of your "C" drive create a folder called " MOVIES " then right click on the folder/properties and share it on the network.

4: install Ngrablite and start it
a:set the ip of your dream and port 4000
b:select the folder movies that you created on your c drive as the default folder.

now to record all you need do is yellow button start ngrab and same to finnish except stop ngrab

to view the recording on the dream use file mode and then go to hdd and the file will be there.

image originally created by MR Z80 and now modified by 666

thats fantastic fandtm666. Im in the middle of doing it now however I am using z80's img "z80 Dm500s SERVER IMAGE-NDSandAustar using internal card slot newcs120-cccam120-lnb11300 inc aljazeera.img" on my server DM500 which is the box im trying to stream recordings from. If I use the modified image you suggested, will the affect my server/client setup?

Where can I download the ngrab plugin for the dream if I want to keep the current img?

    Thanks again

It did - as per the news the server time has gone all screwy which explains my posts going all over the place.

I got it going beautifully thankyou for the help. One more question though, can I watch recordings via the DM500? I havent figured this out yet...

no point recording if you can't watch them go to the file menu and browse to the movie folder and select what you have recorded.

Thanks Leroy - I went through all the folders in the file menu last night and could see my test recordings... Am I missing something?

Maybe I don't understand what you mean. When record something you watch it by pressing you menu button and select filemode. Browse to your recording and select it to play.

When I go into file mode it starts playing the first TX file it finds. I have no options to "browse" over the files. Also the .mpg file record by ngrab does not show up in the webif->movies

check the folder you specified in ngrablite becasue that's where the files are. If a movie is running when in file mode hit the ok button on the remote and browse from there.
