    Hello Dongwei

    Unfortunately, no you cant.

However, if you know someone in Australia that has Austar they could get a second box installed at their house (at a reduced price) and send it to you.

Obviously it would need to be a friend or relative as they would be putting a lot of trust in you

Austar subscriptions are only available to residents in regional Australia so you wouldn't be able to legally obtain an Austar subscription (decoder and card) in Bali.

The only way would be if you had a friend or relative in Australia with a current Austar subscription to have an extra decoder installed in their home and send it to you.

That would be illegal and against the terms and conditions and the person who has sogned the contract would be responsible for the ongoing payment of the subscription and for any loss or damage to the decoder and smartcard.

All this would also depend if you have sufficient signal at your location.

Austar is now in the process of being taken over by Foxtel, which will eventually result in changes to equipment and smartcard types.

In western australia you can buy foxtel self install kits from shops. Maybe a mail order through one of these could be a goer? Someone else might post details of a shop that does this.

Somehow I don't think Foxtel would accept a Bali address for card activation and billing, so you'd still need someone in Australia to set it all up.

I think it's because it can't see the 'home' freq' to scan in all the channels/TP's.

And they never will... as Austar becomes Foxtel from July 1, 2012.

The only 'Self Install' Austar does is if they do a recall as they did several years ago, you experience a STB failure and they send out a replacement or your moving house and a Dish is already installed.
I am a bit curious as to why any of the STB's wont work in Bali if the footprint covers the area.
I cant see then having the 'Home' transponder so tightly aimed and the rest not.
A bigger dish maybe but not a total exclusion.
The words of the song crossed my mind with a variation of 'My STB (Austar/Foxtel) has been to Bali Too'.

Notice the advertising doesnt mention Austar/Mystar at all now for new customers.

Pretty sure Aurora on a 3 metre prime focus solid dish works in Bali as I have seen the footy live to air being broadcast in a few pubs there. Not sure if both C1 and D3 can be received on a 3 metre though. Had some idea that D3 had a weaker signal at the edges of the beam.

I was in Bali recently and every second bar was showing live AFL & NRL games, so clearly the technology works over there.

I've had Foxtel send me three 'additional' IQ2 self install boxes, this is a tech install area. (Lake Macquarie). I simply rang and asked for three extra boxes, mentioned that this house has Fox pre wired each room, and that it had Cat6 cable for On Demand installed too, and that it'd be easier for me, timewise, if they simply sent three boxes as I don't have the inclination or time to wait around for techs. I had rung the general number.

The self install boxes include the IQ2, a card (which you then ring to activate - for each box - needs box SN and card number), goto setup and read back the expected Error code, they fix and presto, they box has a Cat6 patch lead too, bout 1-2m long. They sent, without request, two power line LAN modem thingy's. I activated one of the boxes about 3 weeks after recieving it, those damn renovations; its not a problem, and you pay of course the pro-rata rah rah rah.
