    Default Wii disc reading issues

    Hi all,

I have a hardware modded (2009) wii version 4.3E. Last night i got 2 game discs from a generous member here and my daughter played them. This morning when she tried to play Wii music it said unable to read game disc , check the manual for troublshooting... it did this on both new discs. When we restarted the wii it came up with "Memory erased". Now it is being temperamental on our normal game disc playing some and not others....

Any thoughts guys?, a software issue?

Do you think soft modding it will help?

    Thanks in advance

Photo of mod if this helps?

Ok I think I have figured it out..... using the info from this thread

Things might have changed in some of these but they worked for me. Read each step slowly and then perform it, they say read twice and click once
I soft modded the wii which allowed me to start playing games again, however when I inserted the new disc Wii Dance it asked for an update, which I allowed. It was this update on that disc which caused the issue will let it run tonight but if it happens agian will run the Hackmii program again and rest the device.

Just wish my daughter had told me that piece of info about the update message coming on and she allowing it.....

Further update, OK after trying another disc the error has now returned so I uninstalled Boot Mii2 and reinstalled it, am waiting to see what this does. It is now clear that the update on the disc is a countermeasure which beats the hard and soft mod.... cunning program.

I'm detailing this story just in case there is another poor bugger like me that gets caught out...

Thx Viewer, the latest is I reloaded the Boot mii again (its the third time) and all seems to be working OK... not sure for how long, but I'm sure one of the pro's out there would understand whats going on.

I never bothered with this softmod because my unit was hardmodded but it appears that they are both working. Just need to read up now about using a HDD and how to do that
