COMDLG32.OCX (Microsoft Common Dialog Control 6.0(SP3))
    MSCOMM32.ocx (Microsoft Comm Control 6.0)

    I assume your using XP.
I got so frustrated trying to get LMEdit to work on my unit under XP that I built an old AMD 3000+ and run Win982ED, it works perfectly on that.
I've actually manged to get it to fire up under Vista as well, but tired of that OS very quickly.

On board serial is the way to go. I have a usb-serial adapter that works with most apps but there is the odd one that doesn't like it like LMEdit.

In short LMEdit, great app, but does not use the standard win api calls for rs232 stuff! WinNT+ (inc 2000, XP) start to enforce what gets passed to the hardware, so while you can still talk direct it needs to meet the correct standards.

What i did was instal Microsoft Virtual Machine and have Win98 loaded through that, then enable com-1 in the settings and all my old programs work, including Lave's Multi Editor, and his GG-Edit (ghost gold editor)

ggEdit works on my PC with XP pro but you have to register those missing OCX files first....LM edit doesn`t work but ggEdit does the job

Had the same problem with LM edit and XP pro and the only way I could get a goldie out of XP was to dig up and old tutorial by Mudcrab that is copied below:

    Requirements:
    IC-Programmer
    fmcard V4.0.0
    jaycar mk11 programmer

The following files are within GFgold226.zip this can be found in the files section

    GFGold Dual No Updating Coco.hex
    GFGold.crd
MyGFGoldPersonal.crd (completed with your information, this requires you to open the file in notepad and add your CoCo, HSN, PMK 00*, HMK and Provid 00 in the areas indicated, then save as 'my details')

*Remember you need to calculate this value, ie you'll need an EMK from a logger, when contacting a logger you'll need to give him your HSN and Provid.........never, ever give out your HMK.

If you have no idea of what the above terms mean, or how to calculate your PMK for a logged EMK, I think some more reading and searching in this forum is necessary, all the information is already here.

    Step 1.

Jaycar switch out (RED LED ON)
    IC-Prog ---- Set to PIC 16F84
Open File -- GFGold Dual No Updating Coco.hex
    PROGRAMME DEVICE

    Step 2.

Jaycar switch in (RED LED OFF) Set to 6mhz Phoenix mode, ie JP 1 is across pins 1&2 and JP 2 is across pins 2&3

    fmcard-set to 6mhz
CONNECT (don't be concerned with unknown ATR)
    OPEN
    GFGold.CRD
    SEND
    OPEN
    MyGFGoldPersonal.CRD (completed with your Details)
    SEND
    DISCONNECT

Stick the Card in the Box, wait a few mins away you go.......

This tutorial assumes you already have
    HSN = xx xx xx

HMK = xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx

Provider ID (prov10) = xx xx xx

PMK = xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx

    CoCo = xxx

FMCard and LMEdit loading problem with Windows XP/2000

If you get errors when starting FMCard or LMEdit with Windows XP and /or Windows 98 ME SE

The .ocx files must be installed and registered.

This is done by the following method.

Place,or copy these files into your \windows\system32 directory
    1 comdlg32.ocx
    2 mscomctl.ocx
    3 mscomm32.ocx
    4 richtx32.ocx
    5 tabctl32.ocx

Now on your desktop, click START then RUN and type in this
    command,

    regsvr32.exe filename.ocx
    Then hit enter.

Do this for each of the 5 OCX files.

TIP If any of the ocx files fail to register, make sure that NO different versions of the ocx files are located in the Windows\system directory as opposed to the Windows\system32 directory where the current ocx files are located.
Replace them with the Windows\system32 directory ones, so that they are all the same version

The VB Runtime6 file is also required to make the process work.
Place VB6 Runtime File into Windows/System Folder, and the doubleclick on it to run it, done

VBRun60.exe is a self-extracting executable file that installs the Microsoft Visual Basic run-time files that all applications created with Visual Basic 6.0 need in order to run.

VBRun60.exe installs the following core files, which ship with Visual Basic 6.0:
    ASycFilt.dll, ComCat.dll, MSVBVM60.dll, OLEAut32.dll, OLEPro32.dll,
    STDOLE2.tlb

    VBRun60.exe Filesize: 1043Kb

    Hope this helps

    machine

Not sure if I can/allowed attach these files to the post.

If anyone needs these files feel free to PM me and I will email them

    Hi,

Note. there are 5 .ocx files to be registered.

Make sure when running LMEdit.exe the LMEdit.ini file is also in the folder from where the .exe is run.

I use an Elvis programmer and LMEdit

    Cheers
