    Default 19" TV/DVD in car?

I have a Tevion 19" TV with built in DVD. Can I run this off my car power supply if I get the right adaptor cable?

The input to the TV is 12V. The mains adaptor is 240V to 12V 4A.

Is my thinking right that I can actually run this thing? Would the 13.8 voltage of the 12V car battery blow up the TV?

See if you can accurately measure the 240v supplies '12v' whilst connected to the TV as a starter.

12 V is only a 'nominal' value. If you measure the mains adaptor as Farmsky suggests, you will probably find it's anywhere from 11 volts up to about 15 volts.
Likewise, the actual voltage on your car can vary anywhere within this region as well.
Most 12 volt devices are designed to operate over a fairly wide range for this reason.

13.8 volts is the suggested 'terminal' voltage for a fully charged 12 volt battery.

Get the right cable and your TV should be fine.
