Well, grab a cheap FTA decoder and set it up for the FTA stations on Optus C1, particularly IF you like News and Documentaries; "Al Jazeera International" in fulltime english.

Heck, even TVSN and EXPO and NITV.

Least ure dish b put to use and no monthlies.

IF you want to be more creative FTA wise, a 2-way LNB holder to the end of the dish will give you Optus D2 for Russia Today, NHJK World and press TV each in english, also good. Heaps more too.

Buy an Openbox from member Joffaa on this forum and it also has card slots so in the future you could by a card for pay tv if you become richer! It also has a blind scan feature to scan the sats transponders for feeds etc.

i have found this on another sat forum. it mentions what i had previously wrote. are you saying it is full of s***

    Re: OS Loader

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"when you first load a .gam file using a gammaloader 1.x and it takes a while to program then gives you a count down....Its updating the OS.

these OS files have been extracted from the loaders and included in the SRC.

i can confirm using the SAT-AID loader and following a procedure which you should know will update the OS using the os.txt file provided. and the card WILL still WORK afterwards.

Its not the OS that people need its the first process that will never be released its held by mr gamma himself its the first process to the turning an atmel card to a gamma then and only then the OS is loaded.
the os around is not all fake just old. most cards coming out already have os 1.1 on them a lot of cards now have 1.4 gamma OS on them apparently so I am lead to believe."

    No No No and No.

Read the part where its updating the OS. Key word updating.

The cards were sometimes delivered in 1.x (whatever) form, when using the correct loader the OS was updated to a newer one, 1.04 being the last from what i saw.

    Its an update.

The card came preloaded with an OS whether it be 1.01, 1.03 etc.

No one i know of has the original full version of OS to change a blank waffer card into a Gamma. Every Tom, Dick and Harry has the update to add to whatever OS the card had when they purchased it.

Its a pity we lost alot of info with the crash, plenty of good info regarding this was lost.

Godzilla you MAY be correct that the old public files were updating parts of the os rather than a full os file.

But there is absolutely no proof as far as I know.

The "update" MAY be a full version of the os. Because it is encrypted and nobody knows the update keys that would allow the data to be unencrypted, we don't know for sure.

Or do you have further info, update keys, unencrypted files, etc???

    Godzilla is correct.
When running the bin on a sellers card, it replies A0 0A to each line.
That reply is saying 'command OK'
The OS must be there in order to get the reply

Are we talking about different issues perhaps?

I thought the issue at hand was whether the os updater updates all or parts of the os - ie whether the updater contains part or all of the os. My point here is that it is impossible to know. Not that Godzilla was correct or incorrect, just that nobody really knows as the data is encrypted.

Please, tell me if you know differently.

my veiw is some what simple, how could an os function if it was only partially loaded. the card would definately require a full os to function.

i might be simple but i try hard to achieve

Again I was under the impression that when you locked the card that basically turns the cards software off so you can install the update and then it reboots when you un-lock it
But you have to keep in mind that I have been wrong about many simpler things also
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

the transfere from a bin file would be interesting
suspect its mainly the write command that is different to a gamma
maybe where the first gam file came from

Many of the files for Gammas in the public domain, including gup v3,5, can be downloaded here - approx 11 MB

I did say "Many of the files for Gammas in the public domain" - If I had what I knew to be the genuine Gamma/White card OS, I would NOT be posting it here.

However, the other files give something for the hobbyist to use to learn and have a play, although the "gimmie, gimmie" people will find them of less use. Some of the programmes are very interesting. Now at least I have something to play with using my DM.

xoniam it seems you've just searched for every Gamma-related thread you could find and pasted "why has this stoped" [sic] on the end.

FFS, do us all a favour and STOP DIGGING UP OLD POSTS if you have nothing useful to add. It's basic forum etiquette.
